August 27 apparently. I have to admit I'm looking forward to it. I have lots of fond memories of those early years of WoW. Times where you could actually die doing regular PvE. Day long battles in Alterac. I felt the game lost something the bigger it became, or maybe I just wanted to play other things. So I haven't touched it in over 7 years.

That's going to change. I will be renewing my subscription and starting up a new Orc Warrior and going to level 60, just for the nostalgia trip. Or maybe reproduce my favorite character again, Onemanbucket the undead mage rides again. Haven't decided yet. Probably won't go on with it after that, but I'm looking forward to it just the same.

Anyone else going back for the nostalgia hit?

Never played WOW, but I'm tempted to try a rogue tauren, I hear they are very strong. ;)

Yeah I've never quite understood why 400 kilogram Taurens can't be rouges, what's wrong with a huge cow suddenly popping out of the shadows?

How is it supposed to hide in the shadows when it is that red?
rogue is best class
Probably not, for the same reason I quit before: $12-15 per month is a steep price for the hit. Even when I had some money to blow, that adds up fast.

Though is it tempting to level an "Improved wand" priest all over again? Ye...no wait, no. No it's not. ;)

I am curious if they are faithful enough to the original to have spirit on everything, even on gear for classes where it was completely worthless.

I sort of agree with you on price, though it was never the reason I stopped, it just ran its course for me. That being said if you're playing it full on every day as your main form of at home entertainment, then $15 for a full month of entertainment isn't all that unreasonable and beats watching free to air reality TV. But yeah, these days I'd rather buy a game on sale for that same $15 budget.

I expect to play the Classic pretty full on for a month maybe two and then drift away again, after the nostalgia wears off.

Thank you for picking that up, it took me a few minutes to work out what the hell you were talking about. I got the correct letters, I just didn't put them all in the right order.

Yeah, for the 5 or so years I played it was really the only game I played both because of what I was paying and how many hours I sunk into it. Both because I was a bit addicted, but also rationally I really wanted to get every penny's worth. ;)

I'd pick up something else when I was on 3-4 month hiatus now and then, but I kinda lost track of what else was even coming out.

Rogue vs rouge was a recurring gag for years in the Diablo forums. Now I spot it whenever it happens.
Somehow, I missed the hoopla back when this was new, and I wonder how many players are going to have the rose tinted glasses shatter when they go to play this?
Does it have sharding?
I am very excited to play World of Warcraft Classic.

I have been playing World of Warcraft since November of 2004 when Blizzard Entertainment released World of Warcraft for sale.

I played a Human Warrior from November of 2004 to January of 2006, from January of 2006 to October of 2009 I played as a Night Elf Hunter, and from October of 2009 to today I have played as a Tauren Hunter.

I will be a Hunter for life. With a Warrior as my second.

I will be playing World of Warcraft Classic way way more than World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.

That was part of my joke about leveling as a "wand spec" priest. It was pretty grindy/painful. [Edit - though note, it was fun to do the first time when I had more leisure time in my life and discovering the game was still a blast]

Quest rewards were usually low and poorly optimized, though that was part of what encouraged people to group at the stones for dungeons - that's where the good stuff was. Gold was hard to come by, and most things were expensive (Paladin/Warlock mount quests, e.g.)

Certainly they swung a bit too far in the other direction in later expansions/updates where now regular rewards are very good and dungeon gear is blue (now with a random chance of upgrade to purplezzzz!) and completely OP.

And inflation has pushed up the availability of gold, apparently. ;)

There was a PC Gamer article this morning on how new players (and even some old timers who had forgotten) are reporting some of the game's features as bugs.

Crosmando: Does it have sharding?
Only for the starting zones and they said clearly that it was gonna be a temporary thing that they will phase out sharding overtime.

But everyone is overracting that this is a permanent thing and its not Vanilla and will not play it because they are stubborn motherfuckers that can't listen to reason.
While I've never played the original WoW, only the current one when I out of curiosity tried the trial and got bored with it in less than a week, I suspect many people pining after the original version of it will be badly disappointed, as their memories of it may be drastically different from what the game was.
