Hey everyone!

I am super excited to share with you all my latest Let's Play, where I break out the graph paper (Grid Cartographer software), read the manual and dive into my first ever playthrough of the classic dungeon-crawler RPG, Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge!

What adventure awaits us! Tag along for the ride and I'll see you on YouTube!!

Episode 1 --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASHvZv2bj-I
30 minutes of watching somebody read an instruction manual?

+1 wtf is this with watching someone else play. No offence op
It's the most EPIC instruction manual reading ever!!! :)

You can always just skip to episode 4 or so when I start playing and mapping the game. I wanted to show my entire journey in its completion, from reading the manual to diving deep into the dungeons of Wizardry itself!

Plus, it's actually kind of interesting to read the manual along with me. You learn a lot about how the game works and there's some cool stuff hidden in that manual!

Some people like to watch others play games. I like to occasionally watch others play games, but now I'm too busy making my own videos! It's just a form of entertainment like anything else. Some will dig it some won't, but I shall have fun the entire way!! :)

Perhaps you don't know but there's a large portion of the internet devoted to watching other people play games. Live streaming, Let's Plays, Walkthrus, Co-ops.... it's a thing.

It is. And it's possibly the most baffling thing on the Internet. At least for me. Now, I don't mean that as an insult to anyone who makes or watches those. To each his own, but I just cannot comprehend how people find this entertaining, it's a concept so alien to me as if it originated on Alpha Centauri. The only "let's play", if it even qualifies, I've ever found fun to watch was Spoony's SWAT 4 videos, but those were heavily edited and riffed into being more like few minute long sketches. Watching someone play live, sometimes hours at a time? Just... why? How did we get here? This is not my beautiful house! This is not my beautiful wife!

It gets worse; what can someone say about these people who watch football matches on TV? I mean, buy a ball and play yourself! :P
It's just entertainment like anything else. Some people would rather watch someone play a game, make jokes and have fun with it and get their enjoyment that way.

Speaking for my own content, I hope some people find it interesting, humorous or generally fun to watch, but I realize I have a long way to go to get really good at the art.

But it's just video entertainment like anything else. Nothing baffling about it. :)

And the days go by...
Personally I found written Let's Plays much more interesting.
Video is good to show in detail advanced tactics, or difficult battles, but just watching someone play is just boring. Triple boring if they talk slowly or mumble.
Could spice up the manual reading section by doing an interpretive dance of said manual.

I'd watch that. I mean, maybe.

+1 for doing it at all, though :)

It originally was use to judge if a game is good enough for you to buy it. Because people don't trust review anymore and people hardly make demos for a game.

And the game rating by user varies too much, like a game does not age well but people with rose tinted glasses rate it high. Or some use rate in unfairly because it don't have the language localization they want. There is this review where the user play for less then 10 minutes and rate it low because it don't have enough Tavern elements and play more like a harvest moon style.

So the best is to see the game in action before deciding to buy.

Then there is also the hard to achieve platforming things where text and picture cannot explain well, but a video can explain better.

V already answered. There are lots of people who enjoy watching other people do things. Video games, sports, painting, cooking, why.... I've even heard that there might even be some strange people who actually like watching other people have SEX!! I mean, how weird is that? : P

I can understand how it may seem strange to you, but you just need to broaden your mind and try to imagine all the different types of people in the world (not saying that in a mean way). Some may watch others to learn, to appreciate skill, to see what something is all about, to see something new, or whatever. There's lots of reasons people do things.

I find knitting terribly boring, but I understand there are people who enjoy it. I like watching LPs to get a sense of how good a player I am. Did it take me more or less time to handle something than other players. What is their reaction to this situation, do they think it funny or offensive? What techniques have they come up with? Are there easter eggs or things I've missed. Watching others play helps me improve my own game, and enjoy it more.
