Terrapin2190: Though I do appreciate Windows offering a free upgrade! Now, if it includes the ability to dual boot Win7 and Win10, I might consider that option. If anyone knows if this will be possible, please reply to this post :) if you don't mind.

Pajama: As I mentioned in a previous post I'm thinking about creating a dual boot system with Win 7 and Win 10 so it is possible :) Here are a couple of links you might find helpful;

NICE post. Covers a lot of bases on dual booting. I figured the Win10 install would happen through the network somehow and would automatically have the option to create a dual boot config. Linux is really good about that (Ubuntu rather, some other distros not so much). Now, I just don't know if I feel like dealing with all the hassle of doing all that haha! I'll prob get around to it some time tho. Might wait a year and install it right before the free upgrade is cancelled.

Do you know if, after reserving a spot for the upgrade, does it expire? I'll have to mark a date on my calendar if it does...

Thanks for that info! +1

I've already got 2 system images I use, one on a custom recovery partition and one on an external hdd so I don't have to deal with updates and installs if I need a 'fresh slate' or in case one of them becomes corrupt.
Another thing to add to my previous post (http://www.gog.com/forum/general/windows_10_coming_soon/post51), it seems that Microsoft is introducing a new kind of DRM in Windows 10 :

FUD. This is "Windows UEFI will lock down our computers" all over again.

Quoting the first article you linked (extremetech one).
Let’s be clear: Microsoft isn’t requiring that movie studios use PlayReady 3.0 in order to display 4K content on Windows PCs. The pitch, rather, is that by providing a hardware DRM solution, movie studios will be more inclined to release high-resolution content and allow streaming to PCs and other 4K-capable Windows products.
And additionally, having the function in the hardware instead of software means that other OSes should be able to access it as well.
Today I read that Windows 10 updates will be forced for home users without any *legit* way of turning them off. Ultimately MS will force whatever they can.

I'll gladly stick to Linux where most things are optional.

"The level of Windows 10 paranoia reached new heights"

I'll give them that. This month has been hilarious.
“Amongst other things Windows 10 sends the contents of your local disks directly to one of their servers. Obviously this goes way too far and is a serious threat to sites like ours which is why we had to take measures,” they add.
Amazing. New heights of paranoia? They've already reached other galaxies, let alone new heights.

Considering that you're a bit of a blue piller, that's not surprising. For those of us old enough to remember what MS was like during the '90s and '00s, most of this is plausible. This is a company that got where it was through various illegal and immoral activiites. Given how far the industry has fallen in terms of protecting privacy, this isn't the stretch it would have been 15 years ago.
