I read today that Pornhub is also going to participate in the "Day of Action", which is a protest for the net neutrality where (US) internet operators are not allowed to throttle the net speed for e.g. competing online services, trying to promote their own services. This has already happened with e.g. Netflix where some operators have throttled Netflix speeds and demanded money from Netflix as "compensations", in order to switch off the throttle.

https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/pornhub-will-show-its-75-million-daily-visitors-why-net-neutrality-matters

I think the idea is that the protesting web sites and online services will slow down their services for the day, showing everyone what the lack of net neutrality would mean.

Is GOG going to do the right thing and join the protest as well? Slowing down the GOG web site and forums, and also GOG game downloads to the minimum on the Day of Action, or maybe even shutting down the whole site for the whole day? (They have done that already before, you know!)

That'll show the bastards!

They do that enough as it is without the protesting.

To be fair, it was the obvious and easy joke. I expect there to be at least 12 people coming here just to say the same thing only to realize I already did it.
I feel like I just accomplished an advanced level of one of those "first" comments.
Net Neutrality is vital for a healthy future for the Web as a whole. If operators/ ISPs think that the web is so dependent on them that they can manipulate it the way they want, then I think they fail to see the other side of the coin that how their own well-being is dependent on a healthy internet.

A year or so ago the net neutrality debate raged in my country courtesy of Facebook. However, thankfully net neutrality prevailed.
Anyway I wouldn't mind GOG taking part in such protest.

I typed it but then thought someone else will post it before me, so deleted it. :p

Are you sure that your connection speed is worse 1mbps?

Called it.

Worse? No, but it's inconsistent enough it might as well be. I've had a month before where hardware/line screwed up and I was seeing ping spikes of like 10 seconds (not milliseconds... whole seconds).
Pornhub is free. GOG is not.

Not all of it.

Netflix is not.

Plus, I am sure there is an option to pay up in pornhub as well.

Plus, the service itself in GOG.com is free, you don't pay for the service, you really pay for the game licenses even if GOG store takes a one time cut of them too. For instance when you create an account to GOG.com, you get some free games and you don't have to pay anything to download (and even play) them, nor to use the forum or support functions.

Plus plus plus. Come on, I'm sure you want GOG to slow down their service, to save the humanity.

Ok, so shutting down the whole site for the protest day is probably the only option then. In GOG's case, only that will get the point across.

I just hope people remember this when they complain about GOG download speeds. Don't those people care about net neutrality?

Yep. Got me. Though to be fair I don't realy have any issues with GOG's speed, I was just going to make that joke for the sake of making it.

For now, but there are already plans to return it to its cage. Imagine the chaos if it crosses the state line!

And unintentionally do it infrequently when the site is experiencing heavy traffic. Y'know, those days when the front page either won't load or gives you a GOGbear.

For whatever reason the front page always works ok for me, but "forum replies" gives me a GOGbear 8 times out of 10.
