As a PC player I'm extremely disappointed by the fact that GTA VI is not coming to PC on day 1. Rockstar always released their games first on the platform that made the most money, like the PS2 when it came to GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas, while GTA IV, and GTA V came out on PlayStation and Xbox first. These days, it doesn't make sense, because the PC community is far bigger than the PS5 and Xbox Series playerbase combined, so it's inexcusable to not release it on PC day 1.

Capcom was another company who had a similar release model in the past, but they started releaseng their PC versions on day 1 with the start of Resident Evil Revelations back in 2013. Rockstar has no excuse this time.

Some speculate it's so they can get people to double dip. Buy the console version first for those that can't wait then nail those people again with the PC version.

Again pure speculation but I wouldn't put it past them.
They've been a consoles first company for quite a while now, have they not?
Not sure on the specifics, but likely because it's easier to develop for console instead of PC because everyone has a streamlined experience with the same hardware. Easier to cook and sell food using the same recipe 100 times than to slightly adjust each one to make sure it's compatible with 100 different people with slightly different palates.

Then stage the releases while you get more experience and expertise to refine the bugs and incompatibilities from the first release onto PC to decrease QA/QC costs.

Not that it matters anyway since GOG won't be getting this release here.

Why are you concerned with GTA V again?
Rockstar is a predatory company on both its devs and customers, milking the same game dry for over a decade, being extremely litigious to the point of suing fan projects and DMCA'ing save file sites, and of course can't forget the crunch and the intense secrecy it forces on its devs.

Games are better off without these stains. And GOG is not getting any of their games either so I fail to see why we should be concerned.

I'm honestly amazed how people can keep up with current games to the point of being concerned about "day 1". I'm pretty sure I have more free time than the average adult, I devote at least a little of it to playing something almost every day, and I'm still literally years behind.

Well that's not going to work on me because I'm not going to aim and shoot with a controller in a third person shoother where you have to aim with a stick.
Probably to do the same as GTA V, release a low version on dying console, release it again on next gen console to make peoples buy it twice, and then they will release the best version on PC so peoples buy it 3 times.
If I recall right Rockstar had a interview that someone high up in the company said they was doing console first anymore because the person in the interview put it ''pc gamers are cheap'' and went on to basically clarify in saying pc gamers rarely if ever buy the games any company puts out anywhere remotely at full price ... Granted I could be misremembering on what company had a person stated that because of all the stupid crude game companies have been saying more and more

Lol yeah tell me about it! I am still waiting to LA Noire to release DRM-Free, and haven't bought GTAV for the same reason. Probably have a decade of wait with this already, nevermind Rockstar's next...
Only DRM I can take is Gog Galaxy and Steam. Luckily there are great upcoming indie games I can buy instead of supporting Denuvo etc.

On the other hand I see that the fear of piracy is pretty hyped up with them, and doubt it will go away this decade.
And granted GTAs were pirated quite a bit and they probably lost some revenue there.
So it's possible GOG will never see any Rockstar games.
Though if at least some of the earlier ones arrive, definitely would sell quite a bit.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Rockstar meeting where they all agreed that console versions are a better start for GTAVI because they are harder to pirate...

"pc gamers are cheap" is a strange argument, considering lot of pc gamers hand-build their computers and choose pretty expensive parts... It would be cheapest to just get a console and a tv. Like you know how much a 5080 costs alone :D

From what I remember this was the "official" reason

They are referring to the amount of PC gamers in ech release thread complaing about how expensive the games are, and that you should not buy a game if it is not on a 90% sale.

The people making the games care about selling the games, not how you built a computer,

Yes and no on the argument being odd given the context of course is on pc gamers getting games not on the hardware itself and the kicker Rockstar in another interview if I recall right on the company who had this stated .. mentioned they was planning to pretty much ditch the pc market do to how cheap pc gamers are compared to console gamers when buying games and that they are more willing to put up with varies issues unlike pc gamers
