bo3bber: Steam now forces you to *always* update your games, which ruins a lot of my gaming.

JMich: Just an FYI, you can actually download older versions of a game on Steam. Haven't tried it myself (hadn't had need to so far), but last time I posted this link the gogglodyte I was telling said that it did work.
OOoooh.. Hell yeah, thank you very much for that tidbit. I'm more than willing to grunge around with download_depot to keep my modded games running. (I'm a HelixMod dev)

If it turns out GoG has decided to abandon their guiding principles, at least I can still use Steam. Thank you kindly.

Wow, GoG doesn't want to carry a game from a developer who is brigading the website and potentially running an astroturf campaign? COLOR ME SURPRISED!

Hey, GOG started it.
Six pages of discussion about this here already. Maybe we could discuss it there? No need to open another thread with the same arguments we already have discussed in the other thread(s).

boztix: I knew there were fans of valve. I have now learned that there are also gog fans.
Of course there are - are you really surprised?

boztix: Gog is a platform for playing games and you must add all games that meet a condition: No DRM.
No, they are not forced to add all games that meet the "No-DRM" condistion. In opposite to Steam they are evaluating the games. This procedure itself however and the way they are doing it has been criticized again and again.
avatar
boztix: The gog guys should know that the gog community is not that of the forums but the one they buy most of their games.
And some people do both - post in forum AND buying games. But of course GOG is aware that several people who do buy games are not posting in the forums as well.

I don't personally mind there being more than one thread about this (I want the issue to be as visible as possible). I just thought it was amusing that you "mini-necro'd" the thread to ask why we needed it. XD
