ShadowAngel.207: That's the problem with today's world, everything is so stuck up in political correctness, you're not allowed to use a ton of words because they could "piss off" some minority nobody gives a shit about anyway. Why do people even take everything so serious these days?
In all honesty, is less about political correctness (though there is an element of that) and more the fact that it's simply not fun to me. I actually hoped they would have made the jokes about Lo Wang's name being a slang for penis something more subtle and less blatant (specially since the Chinese pronunciation of his name is way different), but you can never have it all. But I do enjoy most of the humor from the reboot and from Serious Sam 3 as well. These are games about being a one man army and killing stuff. Jokes work better when they are about the same stuff as the game.
As for the political correctness side, just imagine society has a distorted concept of you, everybody makes fun of you all the time, you're under constant risk of being attacked just for who you are and everybody says you're exaggerating when you complain that you're offended. You're not the occasional butt of a joke, you are the joke all of the time and for reasons that most of the time, make no sense to you.
It's hard to understand when you're not the target, not the minority. I remember a time when I read a news story about this ugly 14 year old kid who had been sexually abused by his incredibly hot teacher. Everybody, including me, was making fun of the guy because what man on earth wouldn't like to take that hot woman to bed? He must be stupid, right? Or gay!
Years later, it dawned on me that you don't have to be a uber macho stereotype just because you're a man. You don't have to want to have sex with every woman, hot or not, that wants you for whatever reason. So, when I remembered the story, suddenly I wasn't seeing a stupid ugly kid, I was seeing a teenager who was, basically, raped. That is terrifying.
