timppu: I hate it when classic PC game music gets badmouthed due to rinky-dinky Adlib music. Take for example this:
Watchmojo sucks, but that example is not bad because it's adlib, it's more because it's poorly done adlib (though personally I didn't think that sounded horrible or anything).

Some of the best sounding western OPL2 using games are wacky wheels, tyrian, zone 66, megarace and fury of the furries.

You could also make so-so adlib audio sound better on AWE64 Gold using its reverb and chorus effects.

I guess the main problem with that Adlib example was that the Roland MT-32 music and sound effects was made first, and then they apparently just tried to "port" it to Adlib fast.

With the MT-32 version it sounds like someone is playing some musical instrument on the town market, and on top of that there are sound effects like a dog barking, someone building something (hammering wood), some people talking etc... and especially those extra sound effects make the Adlib version sound weird as they sound nothing like intended and you can't really tell them apart from the music.

I guess my main objection was that that rating suggests that King's Quest 5 (PC version) has poor music, while in reality it means "poor music if you are restricted to Adlib/Soundblaster". A bit like complaining that the music sucks with PC beeper (one could claim that most PC users didn't yet have any sound card, not even Adlib, back when King's Quest 5 was released).

I like this track, but it's actually from Wasteland. The guy who posted it on youtube must have been playing with some mod or something.

Good find. That guy is me, and I played the game indeed with the Fallout Tactics Redux 1.3 mod because it fixes quite a lot of bugs in the game, but it does also change something in the game, like replacing some of the weapons, replaces companions with different ones, increases the difficulty of the game etc.

I didn't expect it would replace some of the music too, so now that I checked the sound files in the vanilla GOG version (no mod), so yeah that particular mp3 music file is different music that what it is with the mod. The file in question is:

C:\GOG Games\Fallout Tactics\core\music\battle\MX_BA_REA.MP3

So it indeed seems the Redux mod maker has replaced some of the music from another game... I wonder why though.

timppu: snip...
Haha, I can see in the screen-shot a sniper rifle which is not in the base game. :)

That OpenShot looks nice and capable, I'll keep it in mind. I use Virtualdub for the limited video edits that I need.

From the video description, am I understanding right that you recorded the music while the games was running? It would have been easier and cleaner to export the mp3 song to wav using Audacity.

Btw, if you'll ever need, I found this Pazera Free Audio Extractor to be a very capable software when dealing with all kinds of audio conversions.

I think I tried to use the mp3 file to get the music, but ran into some odd problem, something like Audacity would just crash with that particular mp3 file for me or something similarly very odd. So, instead I ended up recording the music while the game was running.
I find Nine parchments soundtrack to be a gem.
