vidsgame: Quitting? Quitting is for losers. You'll have to pry that controller from my cold, dead hands. I do go on really long hiatuses, though. Especially, when I need time away from a game.
The problem with taking long breaks (which I sometimes do too, especially with long games) is that when you come back you're out of practice, and the bit you were stuck at before can be even more difficult. And with RPGs coming back after a long hiatus can be next to impossible. Even if the game has a good journal you'll forget some details, maybe some object or place or other clues. And if there is no journal or it's a poor one, then you're completely screwed. I've had this happen to me - I load the last save, and... where am I? Why? What was I supposed to do? For who? What's this thing in my backpack for? The Lost Orb of Phanastacoria?

That's why I was only half joking about the quitting part. Haha. Seriously though, for a lot of games I had it work out just fine but yes, you definitely have to apply this method with care. I end up starting a lot of games over again just because sometimes this method does backfire. I'd say keep practicing but I think this method may work the best with puzzle games and games that are a little more linear. RPGs, I think require you to tread on and then maybe take short breaks, I'd say.
Never Quit. A good gamer owns all games.

You stop playing because:
The game gets boring,
there's another game you think is less boring, or
you have to take out the trash.

Prince of Persia
(2008) had a boss called The Warrior who kept kicking my ass and I just couldn't beat him no matter what. It was late in the game but after trying 25 times or so I just said: "fuck it" and quit the game and uninstalled it. When a game stops being fun and begins to feel like work/chore that's when I quit.
Well, you haven't missed that much. The game was OK throughout, but it has the second worst, stupid, annoying ending of all games I know. (For reference: the first place in 'screwed up endings' goes to Divinity 2: Ego Draconis)
How about games you suck IN...? <quickly goes back to playing BloodRayne instead of doing silly puns>
