Hello there,
A question has come to my mind as i was talking with a friend of mine about pirated games. What does happen if you do not own a game on your GOG account but have installed and played it on your computer with GOG Galaxy? Does your account get banned for piracy? If yes, do you have to pay for the game to get your account back? I know, because GOG Galaxy automatically recognizes the games you installed and downloaded via your browser.

Nothing happens. You can't add the game to Galaxy through your library and it is not "aware" enough to know you pirated it.

Well wouldn't Galaxy know if it was a pirated game? I mean, you can't just take any game and run it through Galaxy.
Who says it's pirated? There is the whole "household" rule in the Terms of Use, so a couple roommates (or family members) each with their own account could encounter this without breaking the Terms.
How would it know the game is pirated and wasn't obtained through other legal means? (For example, Humble Bundle or something like the Ultima Collection.)

Actually, technically you can. There are instructions somewhere on the forum on how to manually add a non-GOG game to Galaxy. It involves creating a fake identification file for the game that Galaxy can recognize (a simple text file). You don't get anything out of it, other than the ability to launch the game through Galaxy.
I knew I was stupid but this adds a whole new level to it. :P
That game gets added here to your account.

Jokes apart.
If you import a game galaxy cant distinguish it.
You can even add a retail game or steam game to your galaxy.
Mike one of our gog community member plays Return to Castle Wolfenstein in gog galaxy and he never came to any trouble.
Your account gets banned, your computer ignites and your children get sold off to slavery. Happy?

So, kids, don't do file sharing. It's somehow considered property theft under maritime law.
