Hey. Currently my PC is AMD Ryzen 5 2600, RTX 2060, 16 GB of RAM.

Many people have told me that the CPU is getting kind of old and could be a potential bottleneck for my GPU.

I am wondering, what CPU do you think i should purchase to replace?

I am not very tech savvy so please be kind.

I have found this CPU, AMD Ryzen 9 3900x. Do you think it's good?

And before anyone asks i moslty care about gaming.

What CPU would you recommend for 1080p 75hz?

Those people are wrong. Your CPU and GPU is perfectly fine for 1080P gaming. What you need is the following...

1. Run your OS and all games off of SSDs. This allows you to maximize performance between your CPU, GPU, and RAM, by keeping them all fed with game data quickly.

2. Get as much fast RAM as you can afford in that board. Preferably 64GB or more, so you have enough RAM for the system to feed the entire amount of VRAM that the GPU has. The large amount of RAM, coupled with SSDs, and your already powerful CPU, will allow for a massive increase in IOPS and processing of game data, especially if you configure your system to load everything into RAM, like I have.

I have a system that uses a mid-range Intel CPU with about half as much power as yours, but uses M.2 SSDs and 64GB of low-end DDR4 RAM. It handles 1080P gaming at multiple frame-rates, with no difficulty.

Replace it with the kind of most expensive CPU available, it'll be potentially better.

Say anything that doesn't confirm what he wants to hear: "why don't you like me?"

Something important to know is that often times the motherboard determines what CPUs you can use.

Changes between different CPU versions require buying a new compatible motherboard. A new motherboard requires new compatible memory and a compatible CPU cooler that works with your CPU and motherboard.

It ends up being an incredibly complex pain to figure it all out. Replacing the motherboard is ultimately the same as getting a new computer.

You may want to start by looking up your motherboard model number and find all the compatible CPUs that work with it. Until you know that, you won't be able to even consider a CPU upgrade.
I would say your CPU is quite good for now, but if you really want to upgrade I would recommend either a
Ryzen 5 3600
or if you have a good amount of money
Ryzen 7 3700x
Dude, do you really need to upgrade your CPU ?
Isn't a 2600 satisfying enough for gaming ?
How many games are slow enough for you to consider buying a new one ?

I would say unless he wanted to do heavier video editiing his CPU is great for gaming for now.
Idk about the latest of the latest like Cyberpunk but that game is unoptimized so far from what I've heard.
Which games and what is your budget?

Depends on the game, but in general the 2600 is fine for 1080p gaming.

Similar to my response on your RTX 2060 thread last year, this comes down to whether you've got loads of money to spare and what your budget is. If I remember correctly, you don't have lots of spare cash, so I see no reason for you to upgrade at this time.

I suggest waiting a couple of hardware generations.

Sure, in 1995, when there weren't a gazillion website about this subject yet.

While this is true Ryzen CPUs are cross compatible between different generations so theoretically one of the newest Ryzen CPUs can go on a first gen ryzen motherboard after a BIOs update.
Not that is a wise idea but you could still do it.

I am kind of frustrated because RDR2 falls below 60 in Saint Denis and Annesburg at times
