I've been going through a bit of a retro rock phase and been listening to Aerosmith
I'm not listening exactly at this moment but Nile is band which has been occupating my cd-player lately.
Nile is very good technical / brutal death metal band which songs are very heavily influenced by ancient egypt. Other notable influences include the writings of H.P Lovecraft.

Examples:

Permitting the noble dead to descend to the underworld

Papyrus containing the spell to preserve it's possessor against the attacks from he who is in the water.

Sacrifice unto sebek

heh, Lashed To The Slave Stick here. If you get the chance to see them live, do it. One of the best gigs i've ever seen.
L.A.O.S. - So good

JellyDonut: Isis- Threshold of Transformation... awesome song, I wish I could have seen them live.
Great band...I never got to see them live, either. :-( At least they broke up on a high note, I guess.

NP: Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini

Steel Panther Hell's On Fire
I went through a phase in the 1990's where I simply wouldn't be caught dead listening to a band that anyone else had ever heard of. If an obscure band started to get noticed, I dropped them. For some reason, I felt that it made me superior to everyone else...as if they were sheep and I was someone of the cutting edge of musical culture. Really, what I was was missing out on some of the greatest music there was. I know now that there is a reason that Pearl Jam was huge and Sparklehorse never was.
The Beatles - Yellow Submarine. Been picking up the new releases here and there and picked it up today.
I been listening to 88 year old Sir Christopher Lee sing Black Metal.

I grew a third testicle by the third act.

Now i weep in the knowledge that mankind has achieved the pinnacle of badassery and it's all downhill from now on.
Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

Freaking awesome song.

Nice. One of the few CDs I actually own.

I was just listening to LCD Soundsystem's older album Sound of Silver.

I love that album! It has a great concept, IMO.
Albums: Goldfrapp - Black Cherry, The Dead Weather - Horehound, The White Stripes - De Stijl, Deftones - Diamond Eyes, and Massive Attack - Heligoland.

It's not always positive, but music is generally at its absolute peak when enjoyed with other people through concerts. Definitely some of the most fulfilling times in my life. I'd go every night if I could.
