Don't worry, just like cancer, it's totally preventable. :P
I keep telling people theres no foreign substance abuse.

Shall we see families destroyed by gaming? Oh, yeah, I heard Omar Sharif destroyed his marriage because of his card game addiction....
NHS is under heavy strain the UK as it is. Uh oh

But it is getting 350 million pounds per week extra, isn't it? From all that money that the Brexit magically generates out of nothing. Farage and Boris Trump ... sorry, Johnson (they look so similar) promised! ;-)

i'm from the North East, the map tells you how i feel about that whole thing ;)

As for the 20 hours a week mark...that's like 3 hourish a day, which is less than most people's tv habits.

Let alone the utter ignorance shown towards highlighting parental controls on ever system and operating system.

As for the adults, sure, if they're truly addicted then there's work to be done, but not on Government money
Listened to a piece on this last night, on my drive home. Woman describes to CBC her son's problem with video game addiction:

http://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/he-wasn-t-functioning-how-a-video-game-addiction-turned-one-family-upside-down-1.4710807

There's a 6:33 audio link if you want to take a listen, though the printed article gives some details, as well.

Toward the end of the recording, she's asked if the game companies are to blame. After a pause, "Yes." I rolled my eyes a bit but then she brought up things like 'freemium' play, how some games are literally labeled with "addictive gameplay" as a marketing term, and that so many games are collecting user data that could be used to help someone realize how much time is being spent within the games.
Is a job an addiction, like 40 hours a week seems much can't even game that much in a week.

It's an affliction, not an addiction. ; )

Depends. Do you get withdrawal symptoms, when you don't work? Do you think a lot about work, when you're not working? If yes, it's an addiction. If no, it's just a necessity.
PUMP UP THE VOLUME!!!

mike_cesara: more money for so called research.. Will WHO find a vaccine before disease will spread? ; )

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Vaccines kill! Never take any, especially new and experimental ones, that haven't been finalized and research behind them is lacking, at best!
You know what actually kills? Polio. And measles. And all these other things that we vaccinate for because we know how deadly they are. My uncle got polio as a young man, and he walks on crutches at all times. My grandmother died from measles. A very minute proportion of people having negative reactions to vaccines is a small price to pay for a world where people aren't maimed or killed by these diseases.
Can it count as a disability?
