Today I got an Email from GoG, saying that one Item of my Wishlist is on sale. It`s Master of Orion (2016). First of all, this game is not on my wishlist (yet). Second, the Email says that the Promo ends on February 26 2016! The message is from today, received March 27 2016.
So, what the heck went wrong at GoG?

First of all, have you checked the full headers of the email? Is it actually from GOG or a phising attempt?

Somehow I have no doubt it's from GOG. :P
I love em but this is right up their alley.

Sure, it might be. But it's better to be safe than sorry.
Yep, it`s really from GoG. I also checked the link in it to my Wishlist and it brings my direct to my wishlist. As I said, a really weird thing!
Hmmm... I remember receiving one of these "One of the games in your wishlist is on sale" e-mails recently and, after listing the one game from my wishlist that was on sale, it proceeded to recommend other games to me. One of them was precisely the Master of Orion remake, so that may be the reason for it being in the e-mail you received.

Why there wasn't any other game in the e-mail? That, I couldn't say. :P
I don't get any promotional email from GOG. Why am I excluded? :-( I only get emails about wiping out cellulite, doubling my income in 2 weeks, the kind of sex women really want, piano learning ebooks, and dropping 10 sizes from my waist.

EDIT: Oh, right, I unsubscribed from the promo/hot deal and wishlist alert emails. That explains it.

It's a clever marketing tactic. They're trying to get you to buy it, obviously.

GOG higher boss-man: "Fuck, we'll lose money if people just buy games in promos. We need to get around that somehow. Any suggestions?"
GOG lower boss-man: "How about we send out the promo emails a month late, so people just buy because they think it's a promo when it really isn't?"
GOG higher boss-man: "Good idea, tell the workers to implement that."

Also, this was the game with the HUGE, MIND BOGGLING, DIZZYING REALLY, discount of FIVE PERCENT OFF for loyal customers who owned the original Master of Orion? :) I may be wrong but I think this was it.

That's more than 3 days from now...
I received that email too.

It's the second time I've received an email for a non existent promo on GOG. I don't remember if the first email was for the same game though.
