Level Up!

The Weekly Sale: The First of Many is leveling up!
Joining the sale are the fantastic, retro point & click adventures from Wadjet Eye (you've got to try Technobabylon, Gemini Rue, and Shardlight) as well as a few true adventure classics including Simon The Sorcerer and The Feeble Files.

Don't forget – there are just a few days left to grab what you want!

One full week of wicked-good offers: Up to 80% off Leisure Suit Larry, Pan-Pan, Cannon Fodder & more to come!

Our weekly sales are changing!
We know that you've enjoyed the loosely-themed Weekly Staff Picks and the grand Weekend Promos - we did too. But after nearly two years of fighting the good fight, it's time to morph into something bigger, stronger, maybe even better: our mighty Weekly Sale!

Launching every Monday, each Weekly Sale will last for seven days. It's a selection of games we know you'll love – but if you don't see anything you fancy right off the bat, don't fret: we'll add another batch of super-good offers every Friday.

Weekly Sale: The First of Many features games with plenty of drama and heartbreak, unexpected tales, and intriguing mysteries. Get right to it with the first round of offers for up to 80% off, including Overlord, Pan-Pan, Shelter, Leisure Suit Larry, and more!

The sale will last until January 9, 5:00 PM UTC.

PaterAlf: I'm not sure if that is a good idea. It will probably just make the sales more confusing and the newly added games less visible.
avatar
fables22: Well, the idea is to actually make the sales less confusing, with just one sale going on each we but with a weekend upgrade to the sale, which replaces the weekend sale. We are testing it out and will see how it works, especially in terms of the exposure for the games added on Friday.
It's the games added on Friday that concern me. Once I've seen what's in a sale, I mentally tick it off as "never need look at that again". I'm almost guaranteed to randomly miss the added games because I forget to check back on the weekend.

Hopefully you plan to add a second news post for the weekend additions to remind those of us who won't re-check unless a notification beeps on our radar... ^_^

josipk: Hi GOG, just want to say that since singing up with you a few years ago, I have really enjoyed all the improvements large and small over the years and this looks like another good one for me! (I never was sure about what day the weekly & weekend specials went up, & keeping them together seems easier for me).
Singing up with GOG might not be a good idea, sometimes they go horribly out of tune! :-P

NewUser__198444: Does anyone know what's the difference between buying Shelter 2 SE and Shelter 2 + Shelter SEU?
avatar
MarkoH01: Shelter 2 SE = Shelter 2 + Soundtrack

Shelter SEU = Upgrade FROM Shelter 2 TO Shelter 2 SE = Soundtrack
avatar
zlep: None, content-wise. It will look identical on your library shelf either way.

But buying Shelter 2 SE will mark all three of them as "bought" on the GOG website. Buying Shelter 2 + Shelter 2 SEU will only mark those two as bought. It's an irritating weirdness of the purchase system.

As MarkoH01 has already pointed out, the SE version just adds the soundtrack.
Great. Thank you!

Thanks for your words of appreciation! Hopefully it'll be nothing but positive improvements in the future too :)

I'm fairly sure that the Friday added games will have a separate newspost, but will double check this and let you know.

EDIT: Indeed, there will be a newspost on Friday as well.

Does the new format also generally mean more games discounted per week and better discounts for these deals, or no? It seems like some of the discounts here are very good, better than I remember being normal for Weekly Staff Picks, but I don't want to get my hopes up if this is just a coincidence.

Really? I really don’t see why the system has changed, then. I thought it had been done to free up some accompanying text creation time; but since there will be another post (which means another text), I guess that’s not it.

I also don’t understand how that could help marketing‐wise (how is this format better than the last?), so yeah . . . this new system is really perplexing to me.

More time to buy games, simpler system, one promo instead of two.

Hmm. But if has a text update, it’s kind of two promos. :P

By the way, has there been an update to the post formatting? When I clicked on the reply button, it showed me three levels of nested quotes instead of the usual, maximum two. Also, quotes aren’t neatly indented any more. Final also, the line we usually skip for readability purposes after a quote is now kept (good!).

Ummmm, as for post update - there's not been one as far as I'm aware. Although it's quite likely website are working on something on the forum which could've caused it. I'll need to investigate if more people have issues. Thanks for flagging it up.

Oh, it’s not really issues, just mild annoyances (especially the strange indenting). Hopefully, more people are seeing it, which would mean that my browser isn’t acting funny. :P

Which basically would mean lower prices for you and higher prices for other countrys? But isn't this discrimination (for the "other" countrys) not already the case for several games?

It's already a discrimination for us in Hungary . I don't understand why publishers and online stores think that everyone in here is rich .
