Fairfox: Good to know! But still a shame when it's lits teh only title here not discounted :/
There are Interplay promos regularly. Just wait for the next 1. The rest of the titles should keep you busy for the time being.
Dragonsphere for sale for €1,39?

Wasn't it one of the games you got for FREE by signing on to GOG or was it a temperory giveaway by GOG?

(Price for Dragonsphere in my order history is $0,00 on 13 may 2011 - GOG games were payed in dollars back then, I had to exchange €0,00 for $0,00).
Dragonsphere was only free until the end of 2015. source
Pajama Sam!, of course. ;)

Still wish we'd see the missing Humongous and Retroism games here, GOG.

I LOLled. If only all game updates were promoted that ceremoniously.
Starts very cheesy, especially with that *epic wannabe* voice actor, but it's a great trailer nonetheless; everything you want to know about the update is there. :)

docbear1975: ...Has anyone played Darkstar One?
Yes I've played it, the combat was fun ... for the current price I definitely think it's worth a playthrough. The campaign took me at least 20 hours to complete, but this depends on how many side-missions you do.

The storyline was OK, it has the same depth and range as Rebel Galaxy ... i.e. not much and not that deep.
The voice-acting and cut-scene animations are not good, however the "space view" when you are in the cockpit is very nice. The music was great; the common but pleasant space-ambient stuff.

You have a single ship that you continuously upgrade according to how you play the game: trading or combat. Although you will have do some combat in order to progress. The reason for all this is that the ship you are using is some kind of mystery ship that can adapt itself into a trade-ship, combat ship or some kind of hybrid. By collecting special items you level up your ship as you would in an RPG.

Considering there's not much to spend your money on, unlike in Rebel Galaxy and games in the X series, it felt rather pointless to focus on trading in the game. It lacks the economic complexity for it to be useful, just my opinion. So my suggestion would be to focus on the combat if you get the game.

I played it with a gamepad and the combat worked really well, although I bet a flighstick would be nicer. I had no issues at all with managing the ship (repairs, shields, etc) during combat.

As expected in these kind of games, the side-missions are very repetitive. Especially the trading ones for obvious reason. However the combat was fun and, like I said, the gamepad worked great for me, so I definitely enjoyed the combat aspect of the game.

If you approach Darkstar One as a space shooter. it's definitely a game that can be fun.

fronzelneekburm: That's still a much better bargain than Dragonsphere, which went from $0.00 to $1.49. Thanks, Retroism!
Huh, I hadn't even noticed it was in the promo.

Now that it's been brought to my attention...is there anyone who doesn't already have Dragonsphere who would like a copy?

igrok: I played the game some time ago and the time limit didn't matter that much. There is enough time in the game to do all side-quests, not to mention the main plot line. Just keep in mind to visit the southern-most locations first, because they'll be disappearing soon.

Russonc: Thanks for the info...so cheap, I may go ahead and jump on it...

edit - @vicklemos... ok I guess 2 votes for me to get it so I will.. ;}

edit 2 - ok, looks pretty on the shelf :)
Nice! Forget about the intro "vid", the story's a killer one! :)
