Yeah the 3D wasn't perfect but it was one of the ones that only made the game harder till you got used to it, then it was just hard because of the difficulty of the game.
Hunting for something more probable than LucasArts or EA...
A deal with Firaxis. Because according to wikipedia, Sid Meier got the rights back to most of his old catalog, meaning not so much trouble for GOG in just tracing the chain of title. Also some truly classic games. (And I sure hope Tom's hint means it's not another bunch of shooters.)
Raptor from Apogee and Pod Racer would be all i would ever need :D
Infogrames would be nice XD.
Alone in the Dark, Knight's Chase......good times, good times....
I'm really wanting to see Id Software, LucasArts, and EA get onboard the GOG wagon.
I think we have a shot at getting Id Software, especially after getting Apogee. I'd really like to have Doom running on Vista (I'm a little wary of tampering with DOS Box. I'm afraid I'll screw something up!). I hope they include a modding "kit" as a bonus (forget what it's called, but I fiddled with it and I got to where I got draw my own gun designs and replace them with other designs).
EA has the rights to The Neverhood I think (they bought out the company who made it). I'm really wanting to get a hold of that game! And many of us know the value of LucasArts being on GOG...

Aliasalpha: Who would own Delphine Software's catalogue these days? Those games were absolutely awesome, well some of them, lets just not make eye contat with shaq-fu.
Future Wars: Cool
Operation Stealth: Great
Cruise For A Corpse: Great
Another World: Awesome
Flashback: Fucking Awesome
Fade To Black: Fucking Awesome With Whipped Cream & Strawberries
That could be another $36 for GOG if theycould get the rights

Delphine would be incredible to have (Flashback is one of the greatest games that no one played), but holy crap would that be a hard one to accomplish. The entire company was sold off and liquidated a few years back, finding someone who actually owns the rights to those games would be nearly impossible.
If you want to find the rights holder just start selling the old games and making the money from them. Some lawyer will crawl from under a rock with a rights holder attached at the hip. THEN you negotiate for the game. Yeah it might not be legal but you have to put the bait out there for them.

Hehe thats an interesting strategy. Rather than selling it though, might be easier to make & advertise a free pirate download version under an assumed name, then you could see where the takedown notice comes from. Then negotiations could begin without a "you sold our stuff without permission" argument.
From what that wiki page was saying, Delphine was sold to a company called Doki Denki who themselves went under pretty rapidly, mostly because they seemed to produce steaming piles of crap

Fade to black was on the playstation network being published by EA so I would assume the rights are with them now for at least some of the library.
Personally I was rather fond of Moto Racer; it was like Manx TT for the PC!

Well, some of the IP holders are known. Eric Chahi, who made Another World, owns that IP. From Wikipedia: "Chahi acquired the rights to Another World's intellectual property from Delphine after they closed down in July 2004."

Wasn't Heart of Darkness a Delphine Software game?

Well he may well know who got the rest then

Considering the company was liquidated, there's a good chance the rights to other games are spread over multiple sources. Obviously Chahi is an easy one to find (that's very cool that he was able to get the rights to the game he created), but what about the rest?

As Aliasalpha said, Chahi may know where they went. Otherwise, he probably knows someone who knows it. Finding copyright holders is detective work. You follow one lead, which leads you to another, which leads you to another, and so on. That is one of the major reasons why it is so difficult for GOG to add really old games.
I would have thought that an international database of copyrights existed, akin to the various patent databases in existence. Sadly, this appears not to be the case.

Well Chahi's website would be a good spot to start. He's selling a high res version of Another World on Metaboli for us$9 so with any luck he'll be open to the idea of selling on GOG for a buck more (or 3 bucks less)
There's a contact option there, I'd use it but not being related to gog in any way, the best I could do is suggest he look at GOG.
