I get that it's the same vowel from the written word he stretches out in both syllables, but if you want to reproduce the pronounciation phonetically in text, smeeee-heeee simply isn't going to cut it ;-)

I would think you might like Enterprise more than most just because of Scott Bakula and as a side note, in Babylon 5 you learn Walter Koenig, who plays Chekov in Star Trek: The Original Series, can actually act!

I suggest to re-try some of those you dismissed. DS9, especially after a few seasons, will have a lot more action than ST:TNG.

I loved B5 & liked ST Voy & Ent. As with most series, after a season the actors wear their roles like a second skin, making it all more fun to watch.

If you like Doctor Who you could try Big Finish that makes Audio Dramas of it, the 8th Doctor almost exists solely in Audio form, and they have New Who spins coming soon, and a War Doctor spin off

A couple of series that have not been mentioned are the Babylon 5 spinoff , and [url=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112173/]Space: Above and Beyond. I enjoyed Crusade which is more of an 'explore the universe' style show than B5's 'Space Station Drama', but it only got one season. I am yet to watch Space: Above and Beyond but it seems to have been well received by viewers, although it too only got one season.

It can be quite cheesy at times, but I always liked it.

I haven't actually heard of the books so I can't really comment on that.

Seeker was not a perfect show but was much more fun than dozing off and snoring my way through Game of Thrones.

The OP liked the Merlin show and I've noticed that a lot of people who liked Seeker also enjoyed Merlin, so...

I like it too, it kinda reminds me Firefly. And it seems that it's renewed, at least according to sidereel:
"Sep 1, 2015: Syfy renewed Killjoys for season 2! "

You can also try "The 100" - it's nice postapocalyptic S-F.

My own faves

THE TWILIGHT ZONE (1959-1964)
This is a anthology series, that is, each episode tells a seperate story. Way more originality than usual scifi series, since you get a totally different idea thrown at you in each episode. The sixties was a great period for science fiction before it got all cyberpunk and depressive.

OUTER LIMITS (1963-1965)
Revival of an older anthology series of the same name. While Twilight Zone showed all kind of wierd stuff in the fantastic genre, Outer Limits were pure science-fiction.

BLACK MIRROR (2013-)
A modern anthology series that gives a twist to the wonders of modern society - stuff like Twitter, X-Factor and Facebook. The episode THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF YOU is totally mindblowing, even though a lot of people dislike it due to the main character being way nasty.

KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER (1974-1975)
Monster-of-the-week show which allegedly inspired X-files. The journalist Kolchak discovers some supernatural monster, gets into arguments with various authority figures, slays the monster and drops the article. The show faithfully repeats this pattern in each and every episode. Seeing *how* the cycle is repeated this time around is part of the charm - which monster is he up against? Which authority does he piss off? How does he kill the thing?

CULT (2013)
This is a TV series about a strange TV series called CULT. The recursive gimmick wears off, but has style and is worth a look.

MILLINIUM (1996-1999)
Dark and gritty show about a psychic police consulant who hunts serial killers. Pitched as “Seven in Seattle”. Did I mention that this series is dark and gritty? Well, it is!
