Please, don't make more of these kind of threads. We don't need one for every game that doesn't have a Linux version. There are pretty good chances that these older games work just fine under Wine.

I am not going to install wine as it is a security threat.

Furthermore, Deus Ex did not work when I tried it.

I want it like SOMA. I just click it, and it works.

So no, I will post these thread to notify people of things to vote for.

I have played it from start to finish via Playonlinux

It would not work on mine. And we would not have to bother with all that if they would just program it for linux.

Plus POL, Wine and MONO are all security risks.

Please, be more specific on Wine being a potential security risk.

"And we would not have to bother with all that if they would just program it for linux." - have a go yourself, without source code, a team of developers, you will find it is far more worth than they would ever make from the product.
Use Wine or something like that, it is not a security, it is a very widely used thin application to pass through instructions to computer. If you don't like that, give up using LInux. Maybe try a console if you don't like Windows and can't use Linux.

Yes, *any* application is a security threat in some way.

How did you do this without installing WINE?

There are already some options for people that don’t feel at ease tinkering with WINE:
./play.it script
Adamhm's wrapper
playonlinux installer

Bad news, bro -- USB devices are also vulnerable, as firmware is hackable. So no USB. lol

You still have two alternatives in my previous post ;)
As an added bonus the developers of these projects follow the GOG forums, so you will be able to ask for help if anything doesn’t go as smoothly as expected.
I recently played through about 50% of it using adamhm's wrapper. It worked perfectly.

what exactly is that ./play thing? It seems interesting...

Nevermind. It uses wine too.... crap.

That is what everyone seems to say. They won't install it because it is a security risk.

Are you parroting something you heard other people say without even understanding why they said it?

They say it makes you vulnerable to window viruses
