GabiMoro: That's the weakest excuse to go to war that I ever heard.
So 150.000 people died and 200.000 were wounded because Finland (a small and neutral country) had the posibility of bombing Sankt Petersburg.
Rethink, please:
Germany takes small and weak Finland and win. It wouldn't cause the war with USSR due to its neutrality.
Then Germany sets artillery, makes supply lines, and starts attack on USSR not through Poland + Ukraine buffer, but right near the heart.
Really guys? Why are you wasting good hours of your lives with this pointless debate?

I'm aware that for some of you this is a delicate issue and you feel the need to either debate or enforce your views on it. Perhaps in 500 years or so we can have people looking back at current events and analyzing them in a "Romans vs Gauls" fashion and see the various crap coming from all sides while people caught between egos and interests suffer, but right now it's obvious everyone will take sides.

What is it with debates and generalizing (which is a logical error btw)? An individual or a group of individuals does not stand in for a nation, even if that nation has mostly voted for a leader which you don't agree with or if its policy is not something you support.

Think about that a little before you start flinging out "you people" type of comments, even if the person you're referring to is clearly biased.

More could be gained by helping Finland with provisions, artilery, planes and tanks (much like Russian Federation does now with Donbas, except for the planes).
You know, instead of attacking a neighbour who will hate your guts and join your enemy at first chance. And not losing so many lives and armament unless really necesary.

Russian media was eager to use terms like "Nazi" and "fascist" about Euromaidan because these are sensible things, russian people having suffered deeply during WW2, and they provoke a negative opinion about someone described like that.
Being nationalist doesn't mean you are ultra-nationalist, Nazi or fascist, but the followers of russian media were turned against Euromaidan. The presence of some extremists among the maidan protesters didn't help either. The parliamentary election from 2014 proved extremist have little support among the Ukrainians but the damage has been done.
They also said joining EU means legalizing gay mariage (which is also a lie, Romainia joined EU in 2007 and we still haven't legalize it).
Not that is anything wrong with that

Um, you don't know much about this war or our ties with Finns.
They willingly joined to Russian empire and peacefully left after revolution, which resulted in USSR.
They tried to stay neutral like Switzerland.
They didn't want any war, neither with Russia, nor with Germany.
Russian mentality is to be helpful and honest with neighbours - cooperation helps during cold winters. Especially with Finns, with whom we share many habits, like sauna or banya.
Their country was too small to defend from Germany. Germany could field more people on one front than whole population of Finland was.
They didn't want USSR army on their territory. Even if they took weapon, it would've prolonged possible war with Germany for 1-2months, but still resulted in good position for blitzkrieg because they didn't want mutual protection pact.
So, Germany would've done winter war on their own and started the war year later.
Yeah, "but why you attack Ukraine now".
http://i.imgur.com/4RREB7q.jpg - 60 years old caricature on Ukrainian nationalists. 10 years after the war, where they helped Hitler to make a lot of ethnic cleansing.
Things haven't changed much. Result of their 1-year rule:
http://i.imgur.com/FOuRh3u.jpg -
2014 meeting in Kiev - "I'm girl, I don't want Trade Union (ТС), I want lingerie and EU"
2015 -
"wage - 2500"
"communal payments -1200"
"Transport - 150"
"Food - 1000"
And this doesn't count x7 times increase in communal payments for gas, which they would get in April.

As for "Russian Federation does now with Donbas", enthusiasts have a site where they gather photo information about used tech:

Attacking them, killing 25.000 and wounded more than 40.000 does count as being helpful? All based on many presumptions: Germany will attack Finland, Finland will be captured, Germany will attack Russia from Finland. You should be sorry! That's how you win friends.

Do you begin to understand that this is not a big coalition against Russian Federation? We just don't like you being "helpful" to us.

Man, really. Mentality, global domination idea and geopolitical needs are different things.
All ideas about global domination for the sake of domination are fucked up. Finns were in their right to not like Soviets, hands down.
Mentality - this is how nation lives and deals with neighbours. Russia exists for 1000 years without eradicating small nation within its borders. This is quite stable and good mentality, historical fact.
Western mentality, which formed on scarce territory - "pillage someone, return to stronghold".
Goes from prehistoric Greeks with Troy and Carthage to crusades, La Conquista, opium wars, modern wars over oil, future wars over water.

Geopolitical needs:
http://i.imgur.com/rgDVJWM.png
Black vs Red, Green - free territory. Star - capital. Blue - free move. Logical step for Black - capture green, then capital. Logical step for Red - capture green for protection.

This is map of Europe in 1939.
http://i.imgur.com/yT3ASfh.png
Orange - countries with soviet bases Green - without.
USSR offered good exchange to Finland (mentality), they refused - result of disliking Ideas.
War was inevitable, all spies said the same. Finland had vital territory.
So vital that USSR went against UN.

Heh. I know that there is no coalition. There is US not liking Russia for being able to protect itself and using its media to cause panic so Lockheed Martin would sell billion dollar jets to aborigenes.
EU elites don't like being under US too, so you see very accurate "blah-bla-blah" theatre without actually harmful actions against us. Whom EU would support year-two later... Take a hint http://i.imgur.com/igMoLdk.png

Probably your news channels haven't show this patriotic video from right sector, which freely operates in Ukraine?

Would be almost believable if there weren't so many mistakes and typos in captions. Boy, you don't even try anymore to be even remotely believable, it's a shame.

Gremlion: pathetic crap
Oh, so should I understand that you have no proof of your statements and that you have come to accept the shortcomings of your country considering the fact you're using the most childish of techniques to put words into someone's mouth? Grow a pair and drop the vodka, buddy. You're just as pathetic as when this conversation started. Your nationalism is worse than that of Germans during WWII. And you're definitely more gullible than any US citizen. So all the countries that you bash, guess what? Are above you.

Shouldn't there have been U.N. intervention by now? It's awfully quiet from the U.N.
There are economic sanctions but that is just by each countries own descision.

UN has become fairly inefficient over the years.

For UN intervention Ukraine should admit that it has civil war AND ask for peacekeepers.
But because this is "an invasion", which is used as an excuse for hiding corruption and sanctions on Russia, they can't.

Or maybe it is because Russia is one of the permanent members and attacking them would disrupt what little peace there is. However, if your government's action continues, action will be taken. I'd volunteer for an offensive peacekeeping operation.
