The NDP and Green Party are both firmly against the TPP. Vote for either of those parties if you're really against the TPP. The more seats they get, the more influence they'll have on the next parliament.

The Liberals will definitely pass it if they form the next government. And of course the Harper Cons are championing this whole thing while intentionally hiding the details from the voters until after the election. We only know about some of the more detailed provisions thanks to WikiLeaks.

Seeing as the government is happy to spy on it's own countrymen, send FBI/Swat against people who are self sufficient... It can only get more and more corrupt.

I worry the corporations are eventually going to win, because no matter how much we protest, they can keep sending people and lawyers and pushing for laws they want and stop laws they don't want, and we at the end of the day have to work to get money to get food and take care of our children...
Starting to wonder if I need to use multiple VPNs while surfing the net, and keep my good gaming computer disconnected.
If it all passes, I mean.

edit: I've annoy 3 different news stations, the dickhead prime minister, and the trade minister. I really hate spamming, but it's for a completely legitimate reason.

Probably also run the OS inside a VM, perhaps TOR as well... add a few extra proxies, maybe you'll be safer... maybe...
Fuck Earth then. I'm moving to Mars.

Total Recall is cooler than 1984 any day.
Hmmm something occurs to me. More and more sites are moving to ssl/encrypted transmissions. If TPP succeeds in getting through, then simply all sites will go https by default and not have a http mode at all. Then proving anything at all happened may become impossible with thousands of keys to break.

It's been said for statistics that figuring out what the internet and rates of data are being used for is being heavily obfuscated by encryption that everyone is using. If basic protection involves a SSL proxy followed by SSL through to the site of interest, then as long as all communication is encrypted and URL/locations are encrypted as well, then the entire thing becomes a big mishmash of unreadable data.

I wouldn't be surprised if all SSL was increased to 256bit or 512bit encryption to make key breaking harder.

Master Kain is right. I 'll enlist, then. Freedom fighter had always been my title wanabe, hence my former pirating career (mostly). This is evil stuff. Has to perish, in fire.
America protecting its interests under the guise of 'enhancing trade with its partners'. Sounds like 'freedom' to me.

Reminds me that America refused to redeem their own currency (to gold or compatible currency) back in the war (WW2? Vietnam?); I think Regan was in charge.
Can we sign somewhere to show our repulsion against this BS Rich yankee agreement?

Wish granted. Welcome to Mars!
I predicted something like this would happen. The fact that the recent TPP agreement contains "Fast Track," a provision that would give the US president dictatorial powers in transactions, was enough to convince me, someone who supports a strict interpretation of the US Constitution, to oppose it.

Of course, people were not making noise about it when TPP with Fast Track got passed through Congress since people were too busy celebrating with rainbow flags in the name of "love wins."

Over here in the US, the major political parties are divided amongst themselves on it mostly between the "old guard" (people who support heavy expenditure and such deals despite their speeches) and the ones that actually have some concept of values.
