Now with GOG Galaxy achievements.

This War of Mine is absolutely unique. It's been described as The Sims meets war-torn Eastern Europe. An experience equally personal, but one that sheds a whole new light on the human experience in a time of crisis.

The critically acclaimed survival game is now available here on GOG.com with the 1.4 "New Beginning" update. With it comes expanded gameplay including new, more diverse characters, as well as more options for the Scenario Editor. The game is now also available in Korean, Japanese and Turkish.

Finally, patch 1.4 introduces GOG Galaxy achievements into the DRM-free release - just in case surviving the war wasn't a good enough motivation. You can now pick up This War of Mine with a 60% discount until October 19, 2:59 PM GMT.

BranjoHello: Nice! Hope more games will get Galaxy achievements soon.
Speaking of which, is there a list of all games that have Galaxy achievements?
Searching the forum for few minutes has provided me with Witcher games only.
This GogMix lists them.

Thanks!
Own only Witcher2 out of those listed.
I see Grim Fandango has achievements on Steam, it would be cool if Galaxy had them also (not that it makes playing GFR in Galaxy any less pleasurable ;)).

You're welcome.
Although i don't really care about achievements i think it would be nice to give those games that have achievements on Steam them on Galaxy as well :).
How does sharing user made scenarios work on the DRM free version? I only own the GOG version (because suck it steam), but the big feature of 1.4 is the sharing of user-made scenarios... however all I saw about the announcement video that 11bit uploaded was that it uses Steam Workshop (bunch of crap) to share and download other scenarios. Does this mean that this particular (and huge) feature does not exist on the DRM free version? Or will we be able to use modding sites like Nexus to upload and download our scenarios? This is a big deal that needs to be answered.

oasis789: I would hold off on buying until the bug that was introduced in the 1.3 patch in April is fixed.
What bug?
GOG Galaxy Achievements? I need them as much as I need DRM... :-/

There's no reason to imitate Steam, GOG has always been better...

Great news! Now we need an update to make Witcher 2 achievements work, so I have an excuse to start a new playthrough :D

Achievements in many games add fun, challenge, and force the player to explore every aspect of the game. Some games have built-in achievements (like blackwell series), while other games have client-side achievements, but they are still added by the developers, so they are part of the game.

That said, I admit that some games have very stupid achievements, like "watch the tutorial". TellTale's games are a good example of it, those achievements are pointless...

Games... forcing... ugh.

This will go the same way as "Don't Starve Together", "Brütal Legend"s multiplayer mode etc... = Steam only.
Galaxy doesn't seem to change this. :/

Oh come on, you know what I meant. There must be a better word to express this, but I'm just a lazy pizzaspaghetti italian guy.
Nobody is forcing you to complete every aspect of a game, but if you wanna do it, why wouldn't you deserve a reward? An high score would be a better reward, but an achievements is fine.
The only games I ever found enjoyment from achievements are the Saints Row games, and to a slightly lesser degree Sleeping Dogs.

For the most part, worrying about or considering achievements breaks the immersion for me. If you need achievements to enjoy a game, then the game is just not good. I also don't need achievements for bragging rights. I play games for me, not to impress others.
Ok, bought it. Not for the achievements but because I was interested and I was in the mood for spending some money here (also bought Shadow of the Comet, Prisoner of Ice & Wacky Wheels).

That's what I'd like to know.

UhuruNUru: Look on the bright side, at least your account still has the numbers in black, not red. However low the total may be.
Yeah, there is that. Or rather, there WAS that, until Friday's new games and weekend specials came up..... oh well, red is a rather pretty color...
