BreOl72: I agree with a minimum of one game that must be purchased here, before you can open a new thread.
Plus:
the opportunity to create a new thread must be limited to one thread/day in their first month here, two threads/day in their second month here...up to - let's say - a maximum of five new threads/day after six months. And
that restriction (five new threads/day) should be for everyone. There's no way anyone needs to open up more than five threads per day...not for normal purposes, anyway.

PookaMustard: Just read this post. Also, fuck it, why the hell am I still auto-downrepped? What have I done?
I think your semi-suggesting gog do nothing to stop the spam just to be overly kind to every user isn't going well with some people.

BreOl72: Of course, there's some probability that you wouldn't need these three threads in the first place, because for the two questions you have, you might find the answer already in the dedicated games' forums...
This. I wish more people would check the game subforums and the general forums as well(like the FAQ threads and such) before making threads that have already been made and/or been answered. It would save so much time and effort for some.

Bookwyrm627: The spammer can just wait for one of the sales and spend $10 to buy games for 100 accounts using a $0.10 game (and if one of these games is a loss leader for the sale, then GOG may well be
losing money).
This thread creation limit would be horrendously frustrating for users and it is barely a speed bump for spammers. Don't harm legit users,
especially impressionable newbies that you're trying to attract, while trying to solve the spammer problem with bad solutions.
Rando newbie
might find the answer, or the answer might be buried some unknown number of pages back. That assumes the answer to their specific question exists on the forum at all.
1st bit: Has ANY paid game ever gone that cheap? Most times the cheapest games i've seen are one dollar, and buying one for each account would likely cut their profits from spamming down considerably.
2nd bit: Most users don't use the forums and use support tickets or email.....also imo they would be fair and do a good amount to curb the spam.
3rd bit: They should search harder, then, or use support tickets. I can usually find a solution here or via google quite easily for most issues, or support usually has answers.
