So, this year we get an all new Star Wars movie. The beginning of a new trilogy. The new Star Wars comics is breaking sales records. There already is a new Star Wars animated show. Star Wars strikes back wherever you look. But not in games. Just how sad is that? There have been so many great Star Wars games, as we are reminded now by GOG, and yet those old, sometimes very old games coming to GOG is probably the biggest gaming related Star Wars news of the year. I don't get it. How do you not make a bunch of Star Wars games for a year like this, when it's obvious everyone and their mother will be talking about Star Wars. It would basically be like printing money.

Well, they are developing a new Battlefront game to be released along with the movie.

Because making (good) games takes time? Besides, 2015 is only just getting started.

Oh. My bad ;) I guess that's something. I though that was further away. Guess that's because I was never much into Battlefront (too multiplayer focused). That's still not much, but it is something.

Eh, just wait for the movie, I'm sure there'll be a glut of them shortly thereafter. :D

You make a good point, but I would rather not have any new Star Wars games released this year than to have buggy or incomplete games rushed out the door.
It's still January. The movie comes out 11 months from now, in December, IIRC. Are you saying you know now that there won't be any Star Wars games out in all of 2015? Otherwise, I'd guess they might be released around the time of the movie.

That's a good point, but there may still be surprises coming along this year. Besides, we just got a whole bunch of older but awesome Star Wars games here on GoG. As far as new games are concerned, Battlefront is on the way and although I would like to see more (KOTOR 3 !), it is better that they do not rush them and in any case, I am skeptical they would make the games DRM free, so I would not be able to get them anyway.
A game with the duels of Episode III combined with the Mos Espa sandbox levels in Episode I would be something special.

Though I wouldn't hate if they did movie game versions of the original trilogy either.

Battlefront wasn't multiplayer focused at all! I ONLY played the first one offline, the AI is challenging and the battles amazingly epic, whether it be trench warfare or taking down a walker that's managed to go all the way and enter the base. The bots do their own thing, some fly, some stay on foot, some try and plough through one area, others try and sneak around or flank you. Way better than multiplayer with people just jumping up and down all the time.

Battlefront II is good too, but way too easy, and the outer space combat is lifeless. Unlike the first game, on the scoreboard you're the dude with 50 kills and everyone else has 3.

I'm sure there will be several throwaway mobile Star Wars games. I'd bet at least one will be an endless runner.

Ouch, yeah that's bad...

I wonder if the contract might get revoked if they do such a horrible job and give it to someone else...

Then again if EA passes it to their Bioware division it might actually do okay... We'll end up with more Kotor...

Maybe we can get a more off-the-wall game... Take Dark Alliance, except with starwars jedi... Might be fun...??
