As someone who develops UIs and web apps, their refusal to spare 15 minutes to implement one or both of the following, given how much we've complained, gives me a terrible impression of GOG's priorities and compentence as a business:

1. A patch to their entry UI to require the product bonus title field be filled (I'm assuming they already have the framework in place to prevent things like entering non-numeric text in the price field)
2. A script which does an SQL query along the lines of "SELECT p.id, p.title, b.title FROM products AS p, bonuses AS b WHERE p.id = b.product_id AND (b.title LIKE 'product_bonus%' OR b.title = '' OR b.title IS NULL);" so they can quickly see what needs to be fixed.

They obviously don't have any kind of "updates must first spend a week on the test system before going live" policy which would prevent them from implementing said fixes immediately.

(Whether it's time spent cleaning up after mistakes the software could have caught or value lost in PR-related externalities, they're being very penny wise and pound foolish here.)

My guess is that someone was too lazy to write a migration UI, they've got the old record in one browser tab and the "new record" form in another, they're literally copy-pasting the content over, and they're doing a sloppy job of it. Hanlon's razor

Hence my view that, if they can't even write a tiny script to query for botched entries after the fact using a single line of SQL, they're either appallingly incompetent or appallingly unprofessional.

Perhaps. I am still puzzled by Cognition and Dracula 4+5, where the product_bonuses lie side by side with the named bonuses. Dracula 4+5 is further curious by the former still sporting the removed soundtrack and the latter not. Not a dull moment.

Or appallingly overworked...

Truth be told, I believe the number of people troubled by the product_bonus bug is significantly smaller than the number of people overjoyed by having more boxes on their shelves. And for once, I am being serious.

At this juncture, I'm not surprised by them being either or both. The homebrew flavor of GOG worked before when this place was more about community and customer care. Now that they want to be a serious/big/grownup business, the backyard BBQ ambiance doesn't really cut it -- I have different expectations when I go to a professionally catered event. I want the basic infrastructure to work if I'm going to remain a loyal customer.

I have this hideous feeling that we won't be forced to use Galaxy, but it will be necessary to do so if you want a functional service. Then, the non-Galaxy file management will be phased out...

JaqFrost: I have this hideous feeling that we won't be forced to use Galaxy, but it will be necessary to do so if you want a functional service. Then, the non-Galaxy file management will be phased out...
