Good mention though, probably appreciated by many since The Sims tends to be both popular and expensive.

Agreed. They are good games. Never played The Sims 4 though so now's the best time to finally play this :)
The Sims 4 is basically a demo for The Sims 3

True! And the disc versions of Sims 3 (and all the online purchases) are DRM-free. The Sims 3 only needed a couple more patches than they did, to fix some performance issues. I mean, I haven't played Sims 4 because it's a DRMed shitbag, but, by all counts by everyone I've encountered, it's a step backwards.

In that case I'll stick with #3, which I already own.

Thank you BlackMageJ and mqstout. :D
This basically seems like a clever way to dupe whales into buying the missing content.
I already own Sims 3 with most of useful DLCs, but having Sims 4 for free is such a sweet deal, considering price of Sims 3 and its packs. At least we can check it and decide if it's worth investing in.
tbh I don't like Sims 3 much, it is still full of bugs and even with mods it will be a miracle to build big neighborhood and keep it that way for couple of sim generations. If Sims 4 is even worse I'll stick to Sims 2 and 3 then

Sims 4 for free before E3?
Don't tell me Sims 5 is coming ;)

How do you figure? I have 3 on disc and as soon as install window pops up, it's an Origin service installer. AFAIK there's no way to bypass it and install the game w/o the Origin DRM.

I play mine (+all expansions) with zero Internet connectivity, even during installation. I think it *asked* you to install Origin for its updating system, but the offline patches are/were available.

EDIT: Unless your disc is a later collection or something.

I hope sometime in near future the Sims games will appear on GOG.
I would like a try the second and/or the third game.
From LGR's videos the series looks pretty interesting.
Just in case anyone is having trouble with the Origin client itself then reclaim the game via the website. In the client I only had the option to "Buy as a gift".
