KiNgBrAdLeY7: How are burglaries and robberies going over there at Rio? Everyone enjoying the empty seats? The thefts/burglaries/robberies or the attempts of them thereoff? The security level being abyssmal? How are the Australian people who were victimized more than once...? Please, tell me everything about it!

Personally, i enjoyed the Russian killing the vermin who threatened him and wanted to rob him at gunpoint, this was my own personal favorite moment from those games! I seriously wonder if 2024 olympics in france will have "great fireworks"... Heh heh...
No problems,having a ball.

Yes you did, but it wasn't in Air-Rifle, so no one cares. :P

That's right everyone, bow down before the power and majesty that is the United States, Gold Medal Winner in Air-Rifle.

And please people. try to keep your groveling to a minimum. While I realize how in awe you are by our winning a gold medal in Air-Rifle, the fact is that as your new overlords, we intend to be kind and decent oppressors. And yes, I realize Julius Caesar said the same thing after Italy won a gold in Air-Rifle thus establishing the Roman Empire, only to turn into a cruel dictator, but alas I am not Julius Caesar. And I am not Alexander the Great, who after taking over the entire know world with his gold medal in Air-Rifle, wept, for he knew there were no more gold medals in Air-Rifle to win.

Okay, now I'm starting to annoy even myself.
I'll stop.

The Belgian TV channels didn't broadcast the air rifle competition so we don't care :o)))

Will we see a duel between the US winner of the Air-Rifle and the Chinese winner of the Air-Pistol competition?

Ha! If the 2024 Olympic Games take place in France, there's a non-zero chance there won't be fireworks. Most of our political people prefer submitting to the terrorists by cancelling centuries-old gatherings that are part of our cultural heritage at the potential cost of several lives saved**—"We must not hide because of fear; we must keep living; we must show them that we're still there," they say. Meanwhile, they've already cancelled at least three or four sport competitions, firework displays, etc. Ha! They're good jokers, aren't they?—rather than assuming the possibility of an attack and making sure everything is in place and deploying more troops to secure the population.

Anyway, even if they do take place in France and everything is maintained, there's a good chance the opening ceremony will, uh . . . suck, plain suck. Yep, just take a look at the opening ceremony of the UEFA Euro 2016 that took place in Paris; that thing was laughable, and the sad thing is I'm pretty sure it didn't have anything to do with money.

** "Potential" because they seem to not realise terrorist attacks can happen at any time, and don't always happen at a relevant moment.

Edit. Of course, just after I posted, I realised the hidden and subtle meaning of your words. But my point for the original meaning still stands. :P

I seriously sympathize with you and i feel sorry. Having to sacrifice your century old traditions, to hide your identity and unique heritage, to chop off your own culture... In the altar of multiculturalism, imagine that! So as the "humans" who keep butchering you blindly the more you accept, accommodate and cater to them, don't feel insulted, since their "culture" doesn't allow many things you fought to conquer, just like liberty, equality, freedom. Now, in the name of the liberty you created and spread to the world, you are going to submit yourselves to willing slavery, alas... Equality reversed. And ugly thing is that this is the fate in store for everyone of us. Even worse that there are ignorant, cancerous ingrates all around, who keep defending murderers and terrorists, while attacking the people trying to awaken and protect them.

Olland is said to insist strongly that 2024 Olympics are to take place in France. My best wishes is with you, people... Assuming, of course, 2024 comes and all of you (and us, or us in general) are still standing there, Olland aside (who is and is going to remain, practically untouchable, even if the entire world around him actually collapses)...

There might be a slight crime problem in Rio:

Rio 2016 : Olympic security chief attacked after opening ceremony before knife-wielding robber shot dead by police -

I would really like beach volley if it weren't for all the high-fiving and hand-clapping after each and every point, no matter if it was gained or lost. I find that so annoying.

And the fact that the French beach volley commentator sounds like a drunk or drugged person or both by randomly adding Brazilian sounds and words to his speech and extending some syllables for sometimes more than one second doesn't help at all. That is oh-so-obnoxious, urgh!

Apparently, there was a reason behind the Olympic games being born in Greece and only Romans and Greeks were allowed to participate (in antiquity). Between armed robberies, burglaries, murder and thefts, now sexual assaults, too! Well done! And i hear this is the second case (of sexual assault)!

Isn't america just lovely? Ooh, the american dream, fap fap fap fap fap...

What reason is there for modern Olympics, anyway? World is not at peace during the sports (Syria is still burning), champion athletes of modern era are all pumped in doping (every pro athlete uses special chemicals and drugs) and most importantly, games are no longer symbolic and cultural (ancients were competing for glory and a crown made from flora, not precious metal medals and making millions in cash)! Plus, they always leave the economy of the guesting place completely drained and devastated, right after the end of the event!

KiNgBrAdLeY7: What reason is there for modern Olympics, anyway?
You already answered: business!

Post done some time ago in the euro thread when someone questioned about players nationality:

National teams were always a 'dumb' idea. So, players are defined by imaginary lines? That is pretty lame.

It would be interesting to see players that, in someway, grew together and share similar cultural values. But that is not the case, sports nowadays are not a congregation factor (that still happens in some places like native ameridians games, fierljeppen in Netherlands or snake boat in India). It is just business. Mostly they are not relevant for the local community, socially and culturally speaking. Modern olympic games is shameful.

Back to foreign soccer players: look at Griezmann. The guy was born in France, but young was sent to Spain and never played in his birth country. Still he plays for France. Same to Messi and many others. So the bond to the France team is just the fact that he was given birth inside french territory?

Sorry about the rant :)

Of, I forgot to add: the Island team in this Euro was a surprising and heart touching exception.

Rugby is a thug's sport played by gentlemen. Soccer is a gentleman's game played by thugs.
No one here (meaning: your country) got a medal in the last 24 hours? Do you gave a damn about the current drama about the use of drugs (google Camille Lacourt)?

We got a bronze medal in judo last night so with a bit of luck we might stil get one or two before the week-end ^o^

catpower1980: Do you gave a damn about the current drama about the use of drugs (google Camille Lacourt)?
That was just bad sportsmanship. Does he really think that the four swimmers that preceded him were drugged? He just created this drama because, this time, others were better than him.
