I was wondering how many of you have heard about the Intellivision Amico and what are your thoughts regarding it?

Firstly, for those who haven't heard of it the Intellivision Amico is a console set to launch on October 10th, 2020. The Amico will range from $150-180(I think the higher end is for a special edition you may get through the website earlier). The Amico is a system that is suppose to be designed entirely around 2D and Tommy Tellarico is one of the head of Intellivision Entertainment and appears to be the brains behind this project.
Here's a few benchmarks for the system...1.Only games E-E10 will be released for this system. 2.The controller.

The other ones less recognizable are they are going to have a quality control system like Nintendo's in the hopes Shovelware won't get through. All the games will be exclusives but Intellilvision itself will be footing the bill for these games development against the royalties you will get. The release schedule will not be multiple games at once but one every 10 days at the beginning. The game costs will be $3-8 at the beginning and $5-10(these last two points were mentioned in an interview by Rerez with Tellarico himself). All of the games are to be downloads unless there's enough demand for a physical version and each of these will be special editions, likely limited print runs too.

All of this being said my personal concerns are the controller which looks like an old Intellivision controller except modernized. These features include a touchscreen and four buttons on the side on the top and bottom. I can't imagine playing platformers or action RPG's as well as fighters with this setup.
Lastly, the ratings. I feel certain genres like RPG's will suffer greatly with this restriction in terms of not being able to write a more compelling story for fear of getting a T rating for being dark at times. Fighters would suffer in terms of the violence even if there's no blood, look at Virtua Fighter and Fighters Megamix.

Anyway, my thoughts are out., please share yours.
Intellivision? Wasn`t that a console company in the 70s?
Here is an article on it and it shows the old one as well.

That's what I thought.

@OP: Might be interested in a 2d only. Where is the link to the product, some reviews etc.?
Isn't that what caused James Woods to kill himself?

It releases October 10, 2020 in Europe and North America. I think he needs to release it in Japan as well. So it's a ways away.
So... is that a retro-system set to play some early video games from the early 80s? The list of titles sounded familiar from the original Mattel Intellivision, and apparently it will play some Atari (VCS) games as well?

I never owned Mattel Intellivision but it somehow felt like a magical video game system when I saw it in a store as a small kid. I was so excited by that dark maze game (Night Stalker?), it seemed like a perfect game to me.
I'm not exactly hopeful, even if Ole' Tommy is an actual name in video games.
I remember playing a lot of those games as a kid. I don't think many will hold your attention long.

This sounds like the next evolution in retro console gaming: retro games with some added content and downloadable titles. However, I'm personally of the opinion that anything older than about Genesis/SNES era is a little too old.
Oh, the awesome memories... I spent countless hours playing Night Stalker on the Intellivision. That soundtrack. Wow... Funny how the original console matched the very color scheme of my Dad's stationwagon! LOL!

Curious to see if The Amico becomes reality in 2020. :D

I'm a bit more kind in that I say anything before the NES is too ancestral; the NES at least had proper longform games and outright adventures. Dragon Quest, Ultima ports, Final Fantasy, Startropics, Zelda, etc.

Personally, I'd love a well made modern version of the Intellivision.

However - we have October 2018 now - the planned release is said to be in Oktober 2020.

Two full years until (an uncertain?) release might be a bit early, don't you think?
Maybe you want to remind us again in Spring 2020?

I'd appreciate it. :)
I owned an original Intellivision back in the days, it was indeed the first "gaming device" I ever used.

And this "Amico" shit is bollocks. Utter bollocks

I'm more sensing the potential of a 2D only machine built now and what could be launched on it. Like I said, I wish it wasn't restricted to E10, instead being bumped up to T.
