Tallima: I need to see where the Thieves' Guild is and if it's very accessible and what bonuses it gives. Otherwise, I have some other ideas. No worries. Whatever you select, you'll be satisfied and dissatisfied, I'm sure. :)

AcidFlux: You're confusing and I love it! XD

+1 for you as DM

I mean, I can try to find the Thieves Guild BUT it would be a waste of time for me to search for it and miss all that good loot this contest is made for, you know what I mean? :P
You'll need loot to get loot. So if the Thieves Guild will actually help a lot, then you'll know where and how to access it. Otherwise, ideas like "summon Thieves' Guild Thieves" or bonuses to getting/finding gear or something. I don't want to overcommit to anything. Back in the day, I had rogues and they enjoyed their bonuses. I just need to make sure it's all still working.

There will be much more that I can't remember. So we'll all be pleasantly surprised when we get there. :) Figuring out the game will be part of the game.

I want to start now! XD

Can't wait ^^
In the next few days, please let me know what your top 3 most anticipated wins are.

The codes will be given as tiered awards. First to find Tier 1 gets their pick of the remaining Tier 1 games.

There will be 3 tiers. The first 2 tiers won't necessarily be harder to get, just grouped. The 3rd tier will be a grand prize and will likely contain a few games. I just want to see what most people think are the best, most-wanted of the batch.
I'll be playing some premium modules this weekend, let me know if you need any help, testing or anything.

That might actually be a good time to do it. It's not totally done yet and since I'll DM, I can handle any scripting glitches and whatnot, but testing if you can actually connect would be handy. I'll try to get things sorted out so you can try SAT or SUN if you can. I may just leave the server up for a while so you can try it at your leisure.
MAJOR NEWS:

Here are the treasures that can be found:

Tier 1
Legend of Grimrock
The Bards Tale (1)
Dead Space
Mirror's Edge

Tier 2
Crusader Kings II
Europa Universalis 4
Terraria
Cortex Command

Tier 3
Syberia + Syberia 2
Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy
The Bards Tale (1)
BloodRayne 2 (1)

Tier 4:
Avadon: The Black Fortress
Avernum 4-6
Avernum: Escape from the Pit
The Witcher

Tier 5
Wastleland Angel
Carmageddon 2
BloodRayne 2 (1)
Deadlight

There are 20 treasures to find. When you find one, you get your top pick from the Tier you find.

So, in the game, you may purchase a Treasure Map to a Tier 5 treasure. Once you do, you'll have a map or clue to where to find the Tier 5 treasure. When you find it, you send a DM message that says "I found a Tier 5 game!" I'll investigate and make sure you did. When I see you did, I'll say "Carmageddon's been taken so you can take Wasteland Angel, bloodRayne2 or Deadlight." You say "I want Deadlight!" and then it will be yours.

Sound like a plan?

There are some random treasures to find, some Treasure Maps to purchase and a book of riddles where the result will either get you a good in-game item or a game. Tiers will all be labeled.

I'm really excited for this, and I don't even care if I win any games; I own the ones I'd want the most already ;)

Question about the class perks:Will each class or race also get penalties to balance them out?

That's a pretty neat set up. :-)

Some come with penalties. Some not. I listed the penalties (like someone might get a +attribute and a -attribute).

Everyone gets the penalty of losing their map.

The purpose of the bonuses back in the day was to improve role-playing. People would think a while more about different selections and some chose a hometown (for fighters).

I figured I'd leave them in so people can have a bit of a more heroic character. And to give a bit more spice to everything.

I must repeat, there's other stuff in this game that I can't remember. So be prepared for some surprises. :)
Since we don't have a huge heap of players, I removed permadeath. You can get back to life. But there will be a stiff penalty.
It is finished. Yay!

For a final update:

- No permadeath.
- 7 maps to purchase. Only 1 map exists, so if you can buy it first, you get it.
- Most things need a team to finish. So you may want to be very kind.
- There's a riddle book you can buy that will lead to a few games.
- There are 7 games not collectible through riddles and maps. I reserve those to give special rewards to great players or special DM-led quests while we're playing. So good behavior and good sportsmanship can be rewarded.

Lastly, please share. We have, right now, up to 10 people playing. Everyone should find at least something. So 2 game max until I say otherwise while we play. After a few hours in, I'll lift it to 3 and then probably to 4 if I need to.
I'd be interested but I have only a rudimentary knowledge of NWN and the interface... I seem fully incapable of just beating things like bloated spiders in the starting campaign :(

plus levels seem VERY slow there, I'm guessing your exp rate is better than the base game's 5 exp for killing something and 100-150 for returning part of the major quest.

Awesome, this excites me. I was just wondering, will staying in character be enforced? I would personally love that to be the case, with a bare minimum of OOC (Out of Character) commentary but I don't mean to imply I'd be policing anyone's rp as that is certainly not up to the individual players. Cheers!

Come play! If you can point and click, you'll be just fine.

I'd recommend playing as a fighter or a bard if you have no experience. A fighter is just point and click. A bard can play a song to make everyone stronger and then stand far in the back and shoot.

Everyone can play as they'd like. I said somewhere in the starting post (I think) that it won't be a hardcore role-playing experience. But if you have some hardcore roleplayers with you, go ahead!

For anyone who doesn't know what that means, it means that your character only behaves as if he were really in that world. So you turn into a sort of actor. It helps with immersion and can be a lot of fun.

For this treasure hunt, it may hinder if things get so deep into RP that you fail to pursue the main mission: get games! I don't have a hook at all. I just have games, gear and lots of baddies and a massive world to run around. But by all means, play in whatever fashion you have the most fun playing! As you play, I think most people will naturally fall into a role-playing feel b/c they'll be talking to NPCs. But at the same time, I would not recommend RP-centric ideas when it comes to playing evil characters and being an unfriendly player or spending large amounts of time discussing the scars left when your sister was murdered by spell-casting troll twelve years ago and you will avenge her death by murdering anything magic- or troll-related.

IS this vanilla NWN or are you using custom content ?
