Dawnsinger: Yeah, the bloom thing got way out of hand. I also don't see why peoples skin is so shiny it looks liks they've bathed in oil. Facial models aren't much better today, consider the two basic face options you get in Solasta, one of which looks much like it's taken from Oblivion in terms of brickiness. Admittedly, after replaying NWN I noticed that I didn't remember the blockiness it has either, so maybe it's a matter of comparing Witcher to these ancient titles.
Also up for consideration: if the remaster comes out, will they pull the original as they increasingly tend to do? I got the DVD version but am considering to repurchase here because of the GOG release contains the updates and extensions but don't know if it's truly worth it?
I've never been able to adequately express the glow of those old Oblivion faces... bathed in oil is the best description of it I've heard yet. That definitely hits the nail on the head there. Oblivion is a great game, but damn is it ugly lol
As for pulling the original, I think that'll be up to Bethesda/Microsoft. I can't prove it, but I think that developers/publishers are the ones who make the call about whether the original stays or is pulled. Maybe to avoid confusion? I find that practice very distasteful. I think the remaster should be sold alongside the original... or better yet, have both versions merge. That way when new players buy the remaster, they could play either version. For anyone with the original, they could maybe just purchase a discounted upgrade to add the remaster.
Not likely to happen because of corporate ineptitude but would be nice.
