It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

For a better tomorrow.

It's no secret that GOG.com (the platform and the community gathered around it) is growing at an exceptional rate all around the world. We're trying to keep that in mind as we look for new ways to improve our service for everyone. Obviously, one of the most important functions for all of you is downloading your games - preferably as fast and as reliably as possible.

For some of you this might sound familiar (yep it’s our 3rd time!), once again we are in the process of benchmarking various download locations and trying to get the most representative sample of worldwide results. That means wee need to look at as many unique ISPs / cities / countries as possible, and we need a little help from you! Below you will find a simple test that requires just one click and won't take more than 2 minutes of your time to complete:

<span class="bold">2015 CDN TEST</span>

Your help is greatly appreciated here! Of course you can run the test as many times as possible (preferably at different locations and different times of day). Oh, and keep in mind that we used a little bit of Flash in this test, so if you want to participate please make sure you have the flash player installed and/or you are not using any flash blocking plugins in your browser.

shmerl: Come on folks. Flash needs to die already. If you need a bandwidth test, you can write one in HTML5.
Example: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?r=723

I hope you won't use Flash for anything going forward :)

Darvond: That feels like it made a huge difference.
What made a huge difference, using Flash?

No, doing that HTMl5 test.
Re-done.

From same system and location but It felt longer this time.

Is this test why the forum is so sluggish? I don't remember getting so many Atlas GOGbear or disappearing posts outside of a big sale.

Yes, it makes a difference not using an obsolete technology which should be phased out from the Web. Adobe doesn't even release it anymore for most platforms.

Edit: I just disabled flash! As they say on Something Awful, 'Bye Whore!' [Not directed at you, at Flash.]

I just realized you were talking about the HTML5 speedtest, not about GOG test. I first assumed you meant HTML5 could make a difference for GOG.

About speedtest - it looked pretty accurate to me when I run it.

Actually, HTML5 is nice for everything. It'd probably help. Along with HTTP/2.
Done. Glad to be of service.
I've tried to test it at different times over the past couple of days, but it always hangs, sometimes for a number of hours at a time.

Done! But I would have preferred it if my results were shown to me along with the thank you note.

Tried the test again about six hours ago and it didn't work. Tried it again now and it worked, with quite satisfactory results (about 1% per second).

I made 2 attempts to run the test but once again, after almost 40 minutes the 1st attempt and more than 10 minutes the 2nd one the next day the test either got stuck or got into a loop, I don't know. It never finished, never provided any status info or anything... just the rotating icon. After skimming the thread a little, apparently, the test hadn't even started.

The same thing happened to me the last time GOG asked people to run the test. What does the test try to do? What are the general requirements for it or possible pitfalls to avoid? A little more transparency would be welcome. I'm on FF37 and don't have the Flash blocked, btw.

i have almost same problems, 1 works fine but is a resource hogger and cpu/gpu burner
test 2 never finishes, once my cpu was at 90 and gpu at 70 degrees celcius so i aborted the second test, the test also hangs the player everytime, i also use latest FF build, theres no flashblock (i need to play online flashbrowsergames cause i have some acounts there and some have premium activated so flash is fully allowed)

And like the poster said: what is collected/beiing written? there is no timer, a indicator of x time left would be handy.
why does the test seems to use 2 GB of memory in the flashplayers?
When i do the speedtest from my provider or a general IP test service it works like a charm, no cpu abuse no gpu abuse.

I havent experienced any trouble with any speed or benchmark or download tests, but the 2nd test juts fails to work.

In what way does it hurt you or makes this difference to you, beyond your philosophical and ideological preferences, that they have reused their old bandwidth speed test from previous years, in which you don't have to participate in or don't even have to look at? Does it affect your shopping or forum posting experience somehow? Are they using or introducing flash anywhere else? Are they forcing this flash on you?

Tell me, are you already preparing a new wishlist entry demanding GOG to stop using flash in optional bandwidth test and sprinkling it with some "OMG DRMS ARE COMING" like you did in the past?

Adobe Flash Player 17.0.0.134 - released March 12, 2015 for Windows, Mac and Linux...
