Terminator: Resistance has gone on sale, once, ever, and only with a paltry discount in the entire time it's been on GOG.

It regularly gets discounted on Steam, it gets down to reasonable prices, but on GOG, never.

It's a game I really would like, but it's become a point of principle that I'm not buying it until the Publisher actually shows they haven't flat out abandoned this place.

Agreed.. I've noticed the same with several other games that are both on here and steam but I think they keep it at a set price on gog probably because its DRM free they'd rather have us lease than own their product.
I don't know what's going on with this game, but definitely it would be nice if someone from GOG explained why, exactly, this game rarely to never goes on sale on GOG.

And it's not the only game on GOG to have that problem, but it's probably the most popular one that does.

IMO GOG should at least clarify whether or not they are aware of the issue and also whether or not they have contacted the devs of this game about the issue, and likewise for the other games that rarely to never go on sale on GOG.

Not sure why we never get any explanation whatsoever about this issue.

I know it sounds illogical, but I wonder if maybe the game didn't sell enough initially for their standards, so they don't want to encourage people buying it here over the Steam version, so as to only have to worry about updating one version and keep the focus on the Steam version.
It's quite simple I think: They make most of their money on Steam and don't care about GOG at all.

They have it here as money maker for people like me who grew impatient and bought it undiscounted.

I find it much worse if games don't get updates (like many Team17 games and Another World for example)

I think that's a pity too. I've been waiting for a discount for years because the full price is just too high for me. 50% would be completely ok for me, then I would buy Terminator: Resistance + DLC immediately, <jokemode=on> the kids will only get dry bread and water for a week</jokemode=off>. :-D

Unfortunately, it's actually not the only game I'm waiting for a discount on. Blackwood Crossing and 198X are also completely ignored here on GOG. Both games only offer 1-2.5 hours and they are also too expensive for me at full price.

I've thought about buying these games on Steam or Fanatical several times (very cheap), but I can't bring myself to do so because I still have hope.

I actually bought 198X for a 50% discount in 2020. The last discount was -33% about a year ago.

But I'm still waiting for Blackwood Crossing, which was last discounted in 2017 by 33% :D

Waiting for that one since ages as well :D

Regarding the Terminator game. Did someone ever try to contact the devs/publisher and talk to them?
If a discount for it depends on copies sold, I wouldn't count on one. It's dropped eight places in all-time best sellers since I bought it nine months ago.

I contacted Reef Entertainment through their website email form yesterday morning, doubt that it will do any good though. Contacting the devs does nothing as they don't have any pull concerning how much the game is sold for or when it goes on sale. You probably don't remember, but a user had to contact Teyon to get the dlc released here because Reef wouldn't even acknowledge that the game had been released here and more or less flatly denied it's existence on GOG. So something really screwy is going on with that.

True. I just worded my question mentioning both since sometimes they are the same and I did not know how it was in this case. Publisher of course decides over pricing.

Wow. Well - at least in this case the devs obvioulsly helped. Once again a bad publisher. Fingers crossed that they simply forgot about GOG or sth. like it.

Perhaps it would do good for more people to contact Reef Entertainment about it. Sooner or later you would think that they would take the hint. What really burns me is that it is drm free on Steam after installation. So there really is no reason whatsoever for them not to allow us the same discounts on occasion here.

Yes, when it's simple enough to do I encourage everyone to do this, especially of course those who want to buy the game here. (like with voting on the community wishlist)

Well I've gone and sent a letter to them, not that I think it will do any good, but I at least tried.
