timppu: Mamma mia! (that's "Perkele!" in Finnish)

Remember to vote with your vote. Here we have the election of the parliament very soon, so that's what I'm going to do.

Too bad it is quite hard to find a party which supports all the things that are important to me, but one has to find the best alternative (some parties have lots of things I agree with, but then a couple where I strongly disagree). The good thing is that almost all Finnish parties are now crisis-aware, ie. they agree Finland must slow down taking new debt, when we still can (and not go the Greece way, where you just waste more and more, until you hit the wall full stop).

Only the left wing party (Vasemmistoliitto) seems to think we should even raise the rate of our debt increase, and have more taxes. Maybe also some communists etc., but they are meaningless here.
I vote every single time, but it's pretty useless, honestly.
Not really surprised, sadly.... This year in my village, we received a brand new tax (30€) for the house "connection" to the sewers. The trick is that houses which are NOT connected to the sewers also have to pay because they COULD possibly be connected. Sigh....

I see a nice parallel with Morton's fork there.

This is screwed up. What is even the reason behind this? Taxing people because they create shade on the street? In pre-independence times; Kerala (which was then two provinces) had a similarly insane amount of tax. There was salt tax, bridge tax, road tax, tabacco tax, ladder tax, boat tax, coconut tax another another that is best kept out of this in addition normal taxes. I'd suggest you try to escape before they implement all those as well.Maybe exile yourself to Corsica? And raise a private army and fight back?

ThePunishedSnake: So in some italian cities a new tax has been approved in which you need to pay depending on how big is the shadow produced by the parasol of your store on the sidewalk.
This is totally ridiculous, now they are inventing taxes on taxes[..]
You meant: Taxes in Italy are going out of control.
But the title is still wrong, because taxes are already crazy since years!

(by the way, didn't that shadow thing already exist?)

EDIT: ah the article is old, some comments are even from 2012

Yeah, that tax already exist but I learned about it yesterday, lol.
Erm... The thread title should sound more like "taxes going out of control", the only shit under control in Italy is the press. We got the worst and most servile public opinion in the developed world, and this is one of the main reasons why nothing will ever change in this fucking country.

I knew there was bound to be at least ONE difference!

Why? E.g. because most others don't vote your preferred politician but someone else, or because there are no good MP candidates for you to vote?

The first one can't be really helped (except if you want to campaign for certain politician), but for the second, you can always try to become a politician yourself, if you feel there is a suitable alternative missing.

There are no really "good" candidates here, I voted the faction I thought it can do something, but they are doing nothing anyway. Basically there's no politic faction in which I reflect myself, and this is sadly a common thing, not only for me, but for the majority of italian people.

Being a politician? Dunno, because the system is too corrupted and I doubt a man alone can do something here.
No taxes are so bad as in here... In any country. Here, right after euro intruded, ALL tax was set at 23% right off the bat. Luxury items like tobacco and alcohol, were skyrocketed; a bottle of tequila reposado, or 38% spiced yellow rum, costing 12,5 euros in 2004, would cost 25 euros in 2009, for example. The very same one and small. Now, those things are going to get more tax soon, as well as anything (food) containing sugar and/or fat. Finally, 23% tax that is currently now, is rumored and estimated to get as high as 28%, in the very near future.

Now, can i go live in Italy? I love spaghetti, i like italian girls and i would gladly work for the mafia, in my current state.

I don't suggest it.. if Greece is the worst as you say, Italy is the second worst :\
Also, pls no mafia, such criminal organizations are the world's cancer.

Tobacco and alcohol are sure very important things... Of all dumb taxes you probably have in Greece, you're worried about tobacco and alcohol?
