And to think, the game gets even harder.

Personally I never spend a single point on tracking skill for myself but ensure at least a couple of companions have a point or two. Two points go a long way.

XD No, much more simple, and borderline unbelievable.

In the early days of aviation there was no radar, do directional systems, no anything. Most small planes didn't even have compasses. These arrows were placed throughout the west to allow planes, predominantly mail planes, a landmark to provide directional assistance.

Oh, we used to have lighthouses made for air traffic. Then those got radio beacons installed in them. Now they seem to be gone.

We still have lighthouses. Most of them are automated but still very much in use.
In fact, there are probably four or five within just a few miles of my house.

Me neither, that's tracker Borcha's job :) It's especially fun to use for those capture-the-spy missions

Imagine what it would feel like to come across one of those when you're hopelessly lost! Which, given the setting of the photograph reminds me of the mindblowing missing persons story of the German tourists in Death Valley. I don't know how well known the story is? Here's a deep rabbit hole of an account by the retired search and rescue person that finally solved the mystery http://www.otherhand.org/home-page/search-and-rescue/the-hunt-for-the-death-valley-germans/introduction/

It;s hard to tell from the pic, but that car is actually driving up to me, which means I'm evidently being assigned hits by Claude Raines.
