Microids has already issued a mea culpa about the terrible mouse and keyboard controls and all the other technical problems the game has on the PC, promising they will all be fixed in a patch, etc,

The DRM is apparently a long way from being the only problem the game has.

Just wanted to say that it's entirely possible for Syberia 3 to come on here over to GOG. We know that Denuvo isn't superglue, and can be removed if the developer chooses to. This is shown by Bethesda removing it from Doom, Deep Silver removing it from Homefront the revolution and Inside being sold right here on GOG, where they removed Denuvo, after it was cracked.

Most developers want to protect their "perceived" loss of "initial sales", that they feel happens because of piracy. But, after this sales period is over, it should be no dice to release it here for purchase.
"System Requirements : 45GB HDD space and a Controller is STRONGLY recommended to play this game."

A controller is needed for a Point & Click Adventure franchise? Seriously? As for the Steam reviews for the game itself, obvious consolization + poor optimization + Denuvo + huge buggy dumbed down mess pretty much writes this one off for good...

The problem I think is the emphasis on the words "perceive" and "feel". They "feel" that they're losing (a significant amount of) sales because piracy exists, however they don't know for a fact how significant it actually is or what it will be. Witcher 3 didn't need Denuvo and it still did great. Yes pirates will pirate, but fans will buy, so logically protecting initial sales via DRM is not entirely sound.

The best thing consumers can do is insist on DRM-free. Don't buy a DRM'd game in the hopes it will get removed later, DON'T pirate, (and for goodness sake don't buy & pirate!).

You're right about that. It's a shame that after all these years of waiting, Syberia 3 comes with such intrusive DRM, and with some of the most embarrassingly bad voice acting I've heard in years (based on the launch trailer). Even the voice actor for Kate Walker, who used to be a good actress, sounds awful now.
It's so bizarre, making a p&c adventure game use joypad controls.
It's SO much better to use mouse, and just click where you want to.

But I could tolerate that. And Kate's wooden animation. Cos I've been wanting this game for so many years.

What I can't tolerate is them adding disgusting Denuvo to the game.

WHY??? WHY DID THEY DO THAT??? ) ;

I want to buy this game so much, but they're not getting my money, until that filth (Denuvo) is removed from the game!

Syberia 3 is already on the piracy sites.
Nice move going the Hard-DRM way, Microids!... Your game has already been cracked.
The time and money invested on Denuvo should've gone to game improvements instead.

Now it's just a matter of time before this game arrives here. But with the shown attitude from the publisher considering DRM,i won't buy it even on GOG until it's heavily discounted. And i guess publishers still don't realize that being stupid and going the DRM route is only hurting them and the quality of the newly released games... Cheers

I have to say that I only would like to know if the mac version use denuvo... Because we know that denuvo is not on linux (linux version of denuvo games don't use denuvo). This is the first game that use denuvo and got a mac version...

About Syberia 3... I love Syberia 1, but Syberia 2 was already forced for me... I'm not really into playing another forced Syberia.

Looks like Denuvo is "Windows only" for now... Based upon that, i think the Mac version only uses CEG, but i could be wrong ;).And there is always the possibility of said DRM to appear on Linux and MacOS through some patching(i hope not xD).Cheers

The same thing happened to Yesterday Origins - another point-and-click adventure game I want so badly on GOG.
P&C games and GOG is such a beautiful combo. I hope one day publishers will understand that.
The decision to optimize a Point and click adventure game for a controller is just plain stupid.partuclarly since the majority of the game buyers will be playing it on a PC. And apprenlty unless you have played the first two games, this one will make no sense....which make the consolization even more confusing, since there is no chance they can get a new audience for the game since it is so clselly tied in with the original games.
And the voice acting is getting lots of fire also. The strong voice acting was one of the stronpoints of the first two games, and that seems to have gone into the tubes.. The same actress plays Kate Walker who played it in the first tow games, but she seems t ohave done a poor job here.
To repeat, the Denuvo is a long way from the being the only problem the game has.
Microids is treating what is a niche game like it a freaking Call OF Duty game. Bad decision.
Seems to be a misfire.
And it has split Syberia fandom down the middle.

I thought maybe this was a late April Fool's Day joke when I first saw this, but it turns out they really did optimize a point-and-click adventure game for controllers, at the expense of mouse-and-keyboard. What an incomprehensible decision.

LOL. Not only has Syberia 3's Denuvo now been cracked already, someone just re-posted the crack notes to a tech forum:-

"Game starts up about 40s faster without D sooo... yeah Denuvo kills performance... especially when you are using two Denuvos in one Game"

So despite sticking TWO layers of Denuvo in it (Denuvo within Denuvo), it's failed already. And the obvious speed increase from removing it pretty much kills off the "Denuvo doesn't affect performance" claim. Now I wonder how much of Syberia 3's voice acting / animation budget had to be cut to pay the Denuvo license fee...

I certainly agree with this. :)

My full intention was to wait till it actually arrives here before purchasing it (if I do), and not before that.

More on the topic, I have no idea what's wrong with the publisher. Microids is the same company who published Yesterday origins, a game that arrived with Denuvo packed in. And now, this huge mess of a beloved franchise. You know, there isn't even the ability to manually save! (I personally hate check-point saving) And, as many others have eloquently laid out in the thread, the game is rife with bugs galore, lousy controls and camera, lip syncing issues..etc.. It's like, what were they doing for the last five years? Just dreaming up the best copy protection they could slap on it?

They should take a cue from Dreamfall Chapters, which was published DRM-Free. I don't see the company going bankrupt from doing so, and the game received quite a fair bit of attention and promotion (GOG had the title up as a giveaway during one of the summer sales for those who purchased a set minimum cost of games).
