Nothing like a reminder that we actually live in what used to be a fictional futuristic dystopia scenario to start off the new year.
its only a matter of time before neural or body implants are the norm, to facilitate ownership/banking/id and to enable entertainment and constant online status to query information, like we do today with google and phones. im sure it will happen in the next decade or two. the cynic in me also thinks there will be genetic/medical/class/worker status info embeded as a way to further control / segregate shit ton billions of us vermin....er... society.... it wasnt too long ago that a unified personal id for every person was considered outrageous.

Biometric technology is cool and all. (My mother has a laptop with a fingerprint scanner), but I feel that once you start putting it in you, that's a step too far, or not far enough.

Just go full cyborg or don't bother at all, I say.

I've been considering making a tattoo that shows up under a blacklight, a QR code that would have important information... But this wouldn't be wireless. It would be probably a last ditch ID method in case i end up dead for some reason. Name, what i'm allergic to, SSN, and that's about it.

that would be a great idea if you have bad allergies, put it right on your chest where they would try and resuscitate you. naturally you have the risk of it being destroyed as the alien pupae finally emerges........:-P

Tattooing all the information someone needs to steal your identity on yourself seems ironic all you need to add to the list is your address.

Lord_Kane: Oh no, the mark of the beast is very specific its either placed <snip> or on the forehead and without it you cannot do any purchasing of goods, from food to luxury items...

HereForTheBeer: Please, oh PLEASE tell me this will come to fruition. I so much want to see people bonking their foreheads on a reader at the checkout counter. In the name of convenience, we all get a good laugh.
If my days of Bible school have not failed me, I believe the quote from Revelation mentioned the head or the hand.

But I guess if I was an evil overlord trying to take over the Earth, things would probably go quicker if I started with Sweden.

It mentions the forehead and the right hand, but I have heard of variations due to the different versions of the bible.
which is annoying.

If you do a search on left and right hand theory, some interesting things will come up. I think it has something to do with that. The Lord is Right. God blessed the right hand. It would therefore make sense for Lucifer to want to corrupt the hand blessed by the Lord by his own wicked methods.

The Occult have their own views on it as well.

And Danzig wrote a song called 'Lords of the Left Hand'. So yeah, Satan confirmed.

Yeah, all heavy metal is satanic anyways.

HappyPunkPotato: I'm actually planning to get an RFID chip inserted in my hand, however, there's no way I'd have anything to do with a social media one. It's all really interesting but also really scary. I've already got a magnetic implant.
avatar
nepundo: What for? Both the magnetic implant and the RFID chip. Genuinely curious here.
With the magnetic implant you can feel magnetic fields. It's quite interesting, like having a sixth sense but not very strong. The RFID would just be a parlour trick, you could scan your hand with a smarthone and have a webpage open up. Some people actually use them for useful things like oening doors and starting cars though.

Oh? Is it all the information they need? They don't know when i was born, or where i was born, nor my bank accounts, it's not wireless, and 99.99999% of the time no one would even notice the tattoo (so long as i'm not in a bar with blacklights active and someone's taking pictures). I'd consider the tattoo a good last ditch ID method, not as a way to steal my identity. Though you could probably drop the SSN data, government databases would be able to comb through pretty well with a name.

And what i would have listed was STATIC information. What good is an address? People frequently move.I'd hate to change it later.

I was mostly being sarcastic.

But it would be possible to steal someone’s identity with their name, address and social insurance number. That would be all that is required to sign up for a credit card from some companies for example.

Oh snap, too bad my address wasn't part of the tattoo :P

While i'm at it, phone number, #1 password, sexual preference, gender identity and pronouns, blood type, and favorite songs and movies, mother's maiden name and where i work too. So just in case i end up with amnesia the doctor can tell me these things.
