Hi everybody...

due to recent complaints about certain members of the club, we have decided to add a new rule for the club regarding breaking the Steamgifts.com rules!

please see rule #9 in the main post!

this rule will of course rely on reports from the members here to a mod or an admin, otherwise it is difficult for us to know when these infractions occur!

Just read rule 9 - my latest giveaway for Brink created 2 and I had to delete 1 of them - just putting this out there as it was a genuine error / **** up by SG.

That doesn't fall under rule 9.

Now if you had made a Brink giveaway to get rid of a DOTA 2 key, that would be a different story. :)
I think we're going to have to use Steam Group posts. We have some there already on who falls under rule 8.

@Stooner and adambiser - my biggest problem with Steam is, I still don't understand how to get round it all - that is why I rely on you guys for guidance. I only ever make group giveaways anyway, as the general side of SG still feels hostile to me. Anyway, why would i want any1 else, but a member of our club to win :)

@Ian - we are not gonna take action against errors such as yours.. mistakes happen etc.

This is about fake giveaways, unreceived gifts and unredeemed gifts etc.

we will also need for the winners/gifters to report these infractions to us, as we would have little way of knowing otherwise.. so your case would probably not end up with us even..

so i think you are safe on this account ;)

also each "punishment" will be evaluated on a case to case basis.. so the severity will vary depending on how many infractions and how bad the infraction was..

the reason for this is that recently we have received a few complaints about members breaking the SG rules, and even getting suspended from SG..


@Stooner - when we have figured out what to do with the reports we have already gotten we will create a thread, just as adam says :)

there are also been reports from gifters that winners are hard to reach after the giveaway & are less greatful at times aka no proper thanks, acknowledgement etc should we have to do something about it ?

Well, that's a tricky matter, but I really don't see the problem here. Personally, I don't do giveaways for the mass thanking. I mean, when I give away a game I'd rather give it to someone who will actually play and enjoy it, but a simple thank you on a reply of the mail is enough. I don't need 30 thank you comments on the giveaway page, or on the club thread. So if you're talking about people who not only don't thank the giver but also refuse to respond to him, I can see an issue, somewhat. But it depends on what you consider "proper thanks, acknowledgement ".

BTW, I also don't + rep anybody doing a giveaway, because I don't think people doing giveaways care about rep at all. I get the feeling the only ones that do care are here for free games, and I don't want to + rep those anyway.
