somebody should sticky this
I think UnEpic has (or had) this, if i remember correctly, when you play the game you have this online system and if you register the game on their website there will be a section with a steam key.
Pretty sure the Slender guys are encouraging this. I don't have any specific info, though.
Frogwares and their newer Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments comes with a steam key.

The psychical copy states you MUST have internet to install the game. It installs with valve and then you have to put in your steam key. I was able to pick it up at Target a few days ago on 1/2 off sale and was surprised when it went into steam install mode.

Are you talking about this?

I would much rather appreciate if I had a GoG key to my Steam games... or at least a decent discount for it...

Isn't either way a good thing?

I agree, this would make a good sticky.

I hope this doesn't become an opt-out for developers to not release patches for the GOG version, because they'll provide a Steam key instead. Of course in such a case a Steam key is better than nothing, but if I wanted to buy a Steam version of a game, I would have bought one, e.g. from GMG.

Yes, guess it was for a limited time eh....

I don't think it is a good idea, at least not for devs, publishers and stores like GOG or Steam.
I do hope, however, that the chance of choosing where we want to activate retail games will be give to us in the future. I have already contacted with Topware (dhassinger@topware.com) about GOG keys for my retails but with not much of success, I've been offered steam keys instead, which I had to refuse. Games they provide comes with quite annoying Reality Pump DRM..
Added Shovel Knight / Yacht Club Games.
When buying "Race the Sun" here on GOG, you'll get a serial number which you can use to register on the developer's website, where you can get a Steam key for the game.
There is kind of a significant migration happening from Steam to GOG right now... so I'm just waiting for the "how can I put my Steam games on GOG" threads. You might see more people looking of those. :P

Maybe we can ask the indie devs about that too .
