I've got both good news and bad news:

· The good news is that I can confirm that Snuggle Truck works fine without the client on Linux as well. :)

· The bad news is that despite what the Wiki says, the current version of Antisquad doesn't work without the client. :(
I can confirm that Epistory - Typing Chronicles works without the client on Linux too, and that it also needs the 'steam_appid.txt trick (398850).

Sometimes it crashes when exiting the game, but I never experienced any data loss as a result.

What's that, please?

http://steam.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_DRM-free_games

Look for the "steam_appid.txt Games" sub-section under
"Lists of DRM-free games and software on Steam".
Thank you!
I can confirm that Cryptozookeeper runs without Steam:

MORE ROM GOODIES!!!!!!!!!

Bubsy Two Fur
Iron Commando
Dorky and Ymp

Those three games are roms with an emulator.

The rom file is the file with "NO" extension.

Give it the .sfc extension and load it with your favorite SNES-emulator.

A Hat in Time does not run without Steam client out of the box anymore. However it still is runnable when using steam_appid.txt with 253230 in it.

(Win7/64)
does anyone know how to activate overcooked's dlc?
Hello hello, sorry I didn't sift through 48 pages of thread and posts and replies.
Would very much appreciate if anyone could tell me how to play Recettear without using the Steam Client. It is on the wiki list, but I'm not sure how to do it - there is a link in the entry which sends me to the official site.

The link goes to the Downloads section of the site, but it is Patches & Demos, and I'm not sure what to do. Should I download the patch to make it launch without Steam?
I have tried launching it via the .exe btw, but that does just launch Steam.

It is on the list under the section "patchable games" so yes, you will need to update the game using a patch from the dev site so that it can be played without steam.

Ah, I was just confused because the site says you don't need this patch if you're using Steam. I'll try that, then.

Works, I was just being stupid, Thanks, Marko!

Of course not. The Steam version will update itself to the latest version but it will still include DRM. However this is obviously meant for the retail version without DRM and since it is on the list, it does seem to work with the Steam version as well only removing Steam DRM.
Could somebody tell me if the Pajama Sam series needs the Steam client? Even after I asked the devs they did not bring the Germen version of the games to GOG so I was hoping this would be an alternative.

I don't own them to test for you but I thought all ScummVM compatible games didn't have any Steamworks DRM / wouldn't call the Steam client anyway precisely because ScummVM only uses the game's data files, and doesn't use the .exe?

Edit - I found the proper link : http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Datafiles

All you need is the data files "PAJAMA.HE0" to "PAJAMA.HE7", etc. If you use ScummVM, no .exe provided by Steam will even be run, so they should all be Steamworks free (as are most other DOSBox & ScummVM games).
