Not sure if GSC will remove the originals or not, but if anyone cares, you should download what you payed for now.

The changes known are to change the first games name due to politics(gog does not allow the rest of us to discuss politics, but allows the devs to apparently).

Also notice the "Full gamepad support" annotation. So in order to add that, it ruins the game. How so? Well, to make the controller a viable option, the devs must make NPCs make poor decisions. As in, sit still and out in the open as you take aim with a thumb stick. Plus make the player character take less damage, because you would die in an instant if NPCs were actually smart. The fans increased the difficulty for years, due to poor game design. Now it seems making it worse and against what fans want is the genius decision choice of the new devs.

"Enhanced" apparently means ruin. But dont worry, Im sure making it pretty will numb your brain enough, nobody will notice how the games turn into something nobody wanted.

For anyone thinking Im nitpicking, look at the pile of crap "Stalker 2". All NPC behavior is not only worse than the first 3 games. Now GSC wants to ruin those 3 retroactively.

Purchased games don't get removed from our accounts.
But in general I agree: always download your games.

I read that. Now think for a moment how they decided all player created content was claimed by GSC. Just because they felt like writing it that way in their tos. If you want to trust them, thats your decision. Given the name change, I certainly wouldnt trust those people to not ruin the originals in some other ways. When they have no respect at all for the fans that kept the games alive, even when those devs didnt do anything to support their own work.

I offer to people a reasonable doubt to trust a company, that has made changes to the series landscape. Some people may not want to trust them. Plus I wanted to make forum members aware of a change. Everyone that comes to read the thread can decide to backup their stuff...or not. I dig other members for doin the same. As in, I appreciate when someone informs us of a change that we may not like. If everything is the same. Great. If not, well we had a chance to backup stuff.

Can confirm, the trilogy edition has both versions.

GSC said that both editions will continue to be available, weather or not they keep to that I will leave to GSC.
so yes I encourage people as well to back pre-enhanced editions up.

GSC has also said that previous owners of STALKER will get the enhanced for free which I will leave to GSC to fulfill

so I hope that GSC keeps to its word and I leave it to them to do so.
Also it never hurts to keep your games backed up. back a few up or back all of them up, consider your resources, but its never a bad idea.

I know that the store page says the original will remain intact....but that is not always the case here on GOG. Did anyone forget Saints Row 4? It is now only remastered. Did anyone forget Alan Wake which is lacking David Bowie tunes?
