IAmSinistar: Ach, you both are correct. That was indeed an aberrant case. So the answer really is that most codes should stay valid forever, except when the code is part of a limited offer or certain circumstances cause them to be invalided.

GOG codes that are given away during PR events (like on reddit, etc.) and those given away as part of purchases on other stores (like Groupees, IGS) usually have an expiration date. All others are expected to be valid indefinitely.
