What a serendipitous way to grow the backlog.

Quite a few lesser known nuggets of fun to discover here: SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell for the adrenaline junkies, The Inner World for the old-school point & clickers, Mages of Mystralia and Pharaonic for some lovely action/adventuring, Serpent in the Staglands for the hardcore RPG crowd, and more.

This Special Sale ends November 21st, 11 PM UTC.

nightcraw1er.488: Ah, that is what is "special" about this sale. I was reading and re-reading thinking it's just like all the other sales, day after day, overlapping etc. with virtually no discount, but now it's clear, its special because it doesn't last as long. Whooowhooo!
avatar
MadalinStroe: It's special because it's meant to tie you over until Wednesday when the Autumn/Black Friday sale starts.
Your missing he point, it is sales all the time overlapping endless, dull sales with games with virtually no discount. There is nothing special about this one, or the current raft of sales. It's just a "we have nothing of interest to communicate, so here is 0.001% off something you likely already got in one of the other million pointless sales".
Should i wait for the winter sale ?
avatar
Mafwek: Is it confirmed it's Wednesday and not Tuesday?
avatar
tinyE: I changed it.
No now tell me about Meridian! :D
I don't know what I've been told
But wishes of the people can't be controlled.

Translation: Sry, don't know anything about Meridian, but even AoE is pretty pretty rush heavy.

amok: Mini Metro and Driftmoon are highly recommended. get them if nothing else
Driftmoon is charming, if you can stomach the proselytism, but... $9? I got it for $2.24, and MaGOG lists a highest discount of 86%, so that'd be $2.09 I guess. Now there are variations in sales (also got SitS for $6 and now it's $7), but that's a huge difference.
avatar
SpecShadow: Well fitting name for SitS, game is definitely something else compared to most RPGs coming out these days.
It even have actual puzzles that take some time to figure out (no handholding or highlighting).
avatar
BeatriceElysia: Mages of Mystralia is actual puzzle game. Beat that.
I was pointing out decline in modern RPGs (even if you include indie segment) which includes braindead easy puzzles, or lack of them.

I played Driftmoon, until I was stopped by a slider puzzle. After about 5 hours of trying to solve it I gave up. I guess, there is no hope that they bring out a patch that removes that dumb thing.

i_hope_you_rot: Should i wait for the winter sale ?
Yes, you should. Nothing interesting here, at least in terms of prices.
Oh, perhaps Staglands is worth taking, if you have several dozen of hours to spend.

In the... frozen port I think it was? Seemed simple to me, actually was careful to move things around enough to explore that whole area for silver feathers, not just achieve the goal.
It did feel a bit out of place though, yes.
high rated

nightcraw1er.488: It is whinging all the time overlapping endless, dull posts with gripes with virtually no discernible goal. There is nothing special about this one, or the current raft of gripes. It's just a "I have nothing of interest to communicate, so here is another slam about something you likely already read in one of my other million pointless bellyaching posts".

It was in that monastery. The one, where I also had to deliver letters between two lovers who then find out that someone faked their letters.
avatar
Splatsch: Time for me to buy Star Vikings :)
I did the same thing. I tried the demo 4 months ago, wishlisted it but never saw it on sale until now. Now is definately a good time to pick it up :)
Keep in mind

Last couple of sales, Mages of Mystralia wasn't part of bigger discount sale. But it was part of sale before the bigger discount sale.

Want MoM? (trust me, you want it) Go get it now.

Oh, lawks alive, my sides. Apologies for preferring sales 2-3 times with actual discounts, rather than this neverending stream of smokescreen non-event "sales".

Steam has it's weeklong sales all the time, with additional specials. What's the problem if sale is meaningless?

What's the problem with me pointing out they are pointless, and for that matter needing to copy everything that steam does.
