F4LL0UT: Me too (and I ended up not playing the game because I never felt like I had the complete package yet before my initial enthusiasm ended :P). Frankly to this day I do not understand why they even came up with this bullshit. I mean, how were the points beneficial to anyone? They made things awkward for the consumers and I don't see how BioWare benefitted in any way from them. It almost appears like it was about exploiting a loophole concerning taxes or their deal with EA or something. Whoever came up with the BioWare points should be thrown into a volcano.
Here is a look inside their twisted business strategy which clearly shows that they think of consumers as nothing more then moneybags. Nickle and diming customers is the new Bioware way which is not going to change even after they get rid of Bioware points. That is why to this day no complete version of their later games like Dragon Age II and Mass Effect have been released, not even in the trilogy pack on consoles for the latter.

omg finally
those mass effect dlcs were just not worth it since there was never any discount on the points or on the dlcs themselves
"Gamers are actually happier, as they are able to spend money when they want. People may not want to pay upfront. They may be happier to pay when they are 'in the moment'." Yeah, people are happy when content that could have been easily included with the main game has to be bought for extra cash. What a twisted asshole.

real.geizterfahr: Not saying you're a social justice warrior. I just don't like that everyone screams "You're homophobic scum!" as soon as someone says that he doesn't want homosexuality in his video games. Not everyone likes everything. I don't like exaggerated violence and "I wear my sunglasses at night" badasses. I avoid games with "I'm cool because I'm soooooo violent" characters. Am I violencophobic/badassophobic scum now? I hope not.
I agree, but I don't think market is too oversaturated with these games now to complain about one big-budget studio's schtick that doesn't get in the way of other gameplay aspects much. I'm not big on RPGs though.
vsr obviously wanted attention posting here, but I wasn't against his original post as at least he worded it in an inoffensive manner.

real.geizterfahr: ps. I just said "stop to harass minorities" because most people who don't like homosexuality in games say nothing about it, because they know how this'll end. And that's a perfect example of the whole oppressor/minority scheme ;)
I was only referring to this.

why do you think i loath dlc and season passes ?
i know exactly what they are there for and i will have none off it
the only dlc is own is because it was included in an super ultimate game of the year special edition

or because i won it in a give away
i spend no money on dlc which should have been in the game from the start

sadly by and large most video gamers just buy dlc anyway

the nickel and diming is sucking the fun out of gaming
and instead of pricing the games accordingly they still expect you to lay out 60 euro and then dlc on top of that

That would be great!
I didn't read the entire thread, but how does getting rid of points make the DLC cheaper.

They've been scamming everyone with that for ages now, they're just going to stick the real currency price it currently costs with points on each one and call it a day. They should stop being assholes and just release complete editions again, then there'd be something to be happy about.

The points never went on sale, so once they get rid of the system people who own the base game can potentially get it cheaper when the DLC gets discounted. As for others that prefer to buy complete versions of game there is no indication whether this will have any positive impact in that regard. Bioware's track record though certainly doesn't make me really optimistic about them ever releasing complete versions of their games.
I was hoping it would be more like "Soooo, Origin is shutting down".

Four months later and they're still in use...
I read it "origin is shutting down"
<facepalm>
Those points, what are they?

Just get the Ultimate Edition of DA:O off Origin. Completely avoiding Bioware Points.

^This for me too. I've normally had enough when I've completed a standard game. There are exceptions such as Half-Life 2, Star Wars KOTOR, F.E.A.R to name a few but I just wait six months and then play them again. Borderlands seems to be saturated with dlc's. Is that as bad (or good) as it gets with dlc's for a game or are there other titles with more?
