It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

phaolo: Is this true? It seems absurd to me..
Please tell me that it's bullshit, because I'm never going to update to Win10.
It's bullshit. Windows 7 is supported by Microsoft until 2020, just like XP was supported until 2014. Windows 7 is on life support right now and only getting critical security updates et al. but that will continue until 2020. In the mean time Microsoft has, is, and will continue to use every high pressure tactic they can to convince, coerce and even force people to switch to Windows 10, including forcibly upgrading people's PCs to Windows 10 behind their back unless they manually go and disable auto-updates completely and install a 3rd party tool like GWX Control Panel to prevent Microsoft from forcing an OS upgrade.

Nothing anyone on the Internet thinks or says will change the fact Windows 7 will be supported until 2020. After that however it will go the way of Windows XP and burn in flames.

For the record, I'm with you - no way in hell I am ever going to run Windows 10 here myself either. Practically everyone else I know that uses Windows will almost certainly either be forced to upgrade or buy a new computer and get Windows 10 with it whether they like it or not, or end up having to upgrade for hardware or some other reason that they will have no choice about and almost all of them will succumb and make the switch if not soon, then definitely before 2020 at the rate Microsoft is going to make using Windows 7 as painful as possible (including planning on not putting out support for new AMD/Intel processors for Windows 7 in the future, meaning if you buy a new processor in a year or so you will need Windows 10 to use it to the fullest, or possibly even at all).

I'll be counted among the few who say "I'll never use Windows 10" who actually mean it. I've got other options lined up for myself that don't involve Microsoft, which would not be a comfy fit for 99% of people, but is perfectly good for me personally. :)

Johny.: Please install one of those windows update: KB2999226

KB2999226 is a nonsecurity patch for Windows 8.1 that, according to the KB article, sticks a new Universal C Runtime on Windows 8.1 machines. The new Universal C Runtime is needed when programmers use the new Windows 10 Software Development Kit to build Universal/Metro apps and you try to run them on Windows 8.1. It's a mammoth patch, first issued for both Win 7 and Win 8.1 on Sept. 15, then issued for Vista on Sept. 29.

Look what this guy is saying about KB2999226, basically that it is a NSA backdoor:

I missed that to be honest, might be worth looking into it.
Right, I am confused now..

Ok, I don't know on what kind drug this guy is but it's definitely something pretty strong :) .

The update in question is mostly an update of the runtime to allows application build with the latest Visual Studio to run on "earlier" OS.

And it includes telemetry systems that cannot be disabled or removed.
EDIT: Sorry, to clarify, there is no "official" way to disable them. All telemetry can be disabled through loopholes like messing with the IP table etc..

Odd, I thought it means KelvinByte.

No, there is a mention of data collection in the EULA, which is a case for most EULA from MS nowadays.

And it's mentioned in this specific runtime because this runtime does contains some of the telemetry using API (i.e. the Cortana API, Speech, etc...) that IF used by one application, for example if Galaxy was using Cortana for whatever reason, could result on said application exchanging telemetry data with Microsoft.

I thought it was a Russian submarine. Now I realize I was thinking of K9.

And yeah this is pretty stupid. XD I am not a Galaxy fan but I try not to discourage people from using it. SP1 or not, it's getting very hard to not tell people to drop it.

How does this make it any better from what I've said? It includes telemetry, period. You can sugar coat it all you want with ifs and thens.

I'm glad Galaxy still works in windows 7.
I wish I could remove my vote.

I believe it was already done, but thanks! Last night I had 32 votes and this morning only 18.
If you're going to respond, please respond courteously.

I've been at it since Witcher 3 came out trying to maximize my frame rates and game play on windows 7 and no matter what new hardware I've shoved in..I've had stuttering. So I've decided to eliminate unnecessary windows services and KB's that was done after clean install of windows 7 Pro. Now I can play it on Maximum settings with almost no stutter and the motion is very fluid; there is off course some stutter here and there but that's just normal.

Now about the Galaxy!
I've tried many times to install it but it failed, some run1.0.1 dll or something error.
Galaxy was very convenient for me to use, I liked it but, one day around 3 months ago there was that update hence the error above.

At this point it is all I will say about this matter, no sense in who is right, wrong, stupid, nor if he isn't a computer scientist.

P.s. I like to live in a world where people are positive, honest and strive to do good. I try my best to be honest to myself and others in that way my soul feels Lighter :)

No offense, but it works with Windows 7, if you read the previous posts you'll know what you need to do.
And it's not possible to unvote.
I would, if I could, because there's no point asking to fix something that is working.
Working for 95% of users, at least...

The main problem is that all of the major retailers are craven bootlickers that won't sell "naked" PC's, but if you're willing to take the time to build your own rig, not only will you save yourself the expense of having to purchase another exorbitantly priced win license, you will also have a MUCH better system.

Desktops FTW! ;)

"Convenience" comes at the expense of privacy and performance.
