Today whenever I download one of my winter sale purchases, I start downloading with my max bandwidt but after a while it goes down to 300-400kB/s.
Edit: This also affects multiple simultaneous downloads. They all show this behaviour PER download.

Anyone else having this issue?

(It's not my connection, and yes I am sure :D)

I can only wish I hit that speed with any stability. Be grateful.
I am a little irritated by your answer, since 300 kB is not really fast nowadays.

My usual speed would be around 2.8 MB/s (25mbit) but today gog seems to be throttled, hence my question.

Probably due to the sale, I usually get 7-10MB/s while downloading, but after the sale started I barely get 1-2MB. I am also dying because of those slow speeds.

Just consider much of the forum here is on ghetto-speed connections, and that your OP may well cause irritation.

But 25mbit connection IS ghettospeed already.....
@dewtech
Ok thanks that confirms it for me. Just wanted to be sure :).

@Sachys
Well, Germany is always whining about being slow with broadband development, some are stuck at 16 mbit (adsl) and my 25 mbit vdsl is basically the lowest end of vdsl, so there's that.
I am happy though I *always* get my 25 mbit with my provider though, no sense in having e.g. 100mbit cable which drops to a halt on Fridays and weekend.

At least you havent got it as bad as the US guys
Or does Germany also have data caps and weird throttling stuff going on?

Sometimes it's good to live in a post-soviet state. Nobody cares what you do on the net and the infrastructure is almost good (Lithuania has it better). No caps, no throttling, no banning pages on government level.

There are caps for mobile connections mainly, afaik other caps aren't really enforced even if there are any.

Speeds aren't optimal but can't really complain.
Actually GOG is the fastest game client when it comes to downloads. It's always 3.7MB/S which is what my internet is sadly. Origin is second fastest with it reaching that speed once and a while but Steam... Oh dear Steam...

It's at the 300kb/s you mentioned all the time. No idea why.

Like it's not that Steam does it the most, it's that Steam is the only one that does it. GOG and Origin are fine, heck even UPlay is fast. I think it might be firewall? That's what some guy on Steam told me.

There are a few places where we have good ISPs. I happen to live in one of them; true gigabit up and down, no throughput cap, $70 a month. With some luck, that'll become less uncommon, as long as the relatively recent FCC rules on municipal broadband don't get smashed apart.

But, yeah. Tried some downloading from GOG to see what speeds were like, and it's a little slower than usual. Sales will even do that to Steam, and they've got ludicrous numbers of servers.
Just checked and my downloading speed is as usual; 700-800 KB/s.

I also have very slow downloads with gog.com - with 100 Mbit line I am downloading from every other site at 6-7 Mbytes/sec, but with gog.com it goes to 200 kb/s, which is awfully slow. This kept going for months and I am therefore considering to completely drop my gog account (while I bought some 60 games from gog) and buy from other vendors...
Lately i have also suffered very slow speed.
But just tried now and the speed is 3,5 MB/s wich is the maximum i can reach.
