Hi everybody!

Just wanted to let you all know that SKALD: Against the Black Priory is live on Kickstarter now!

If you like classical turn-based, 8-bit style CRPGs (feelies and all), or just roleplaying in general, head on over and give it a look!

Also, tell your friends :-)

Wish me luck,

Off to a good start too, over $1000 pledged already.

Any chance a credit card-less pleb like myself could chip in as well? Maybe through PayPal once the KS campaign has ended?

If you care for some feedback, why not offer the manual (pdf) to the first tier too? Reserve the guide for the second tier, but the manual is an important document methinks. Other than that, i wish you good luck!

For sure! We'll work something out! Just get in touch a bit later :-)

I agree 100% and thanks for the feedback! All info required to play the game will be accessible online BUT without things like flavour-text and illustrations etc :-)

One sticking point:

Make the first tier include the manual(not the guide, though) as well, otherwise any vital info in it(that some might need) will be missing from the basic gameplay experience/purchase. As it is right now, including it only in the second tier might turn some people off.

(I want to get the first tier but also want the manual and feel this isn't fair to give such vital info/documentation to all users)

I understand you're putting work into the manual, so (SUGGESTION) maybe make a new tier between the current starting 2 tiers(with manual) for those who want the manual and the first tier stuff but not all the rest of the stuff the second tier adds?

I ask this as I like manuals with such art/text and feel lacking it turns me off a bit(as it does to others I expect) who like getting such.

(Or maybe sell the other digital goodies piecemeal AFTER the KS to those who might want to buy them to add to what they already get?)

Looking good, though I can't say I'm a fan of the way the character bob up and down when standing still.

LOL :-) We'll see as we get into more development if we clean that up a bit ;-)

All interesting points! Will take this into consideration! Thanks for staying interested!

I'm quite the opposite, i like it, it makes the characters more alive just as the animations make the world feel just the same. Maybe add an option to disable it for those who don't like it? Anyway, i see it's already funded, congrats! :)

Any info on any changes/future tiers added would be nice to have ASAP so I can figure what to back/if I am going to back. TIA

Hi and thanks for the feedback! Yes we funded in less than 24 hours and just passed our second stretch goal :-D Amazing!

As for the animation I might add an option for disabling it ALSO because this will improve performance for those with older computers :-)
Game looks really good, and I watched a little bit of the Matt Chat interview but haven't had a chance to watch the entire thing. I'd be curious to know the expected length of time it might take a player to pass the game, assuming the player has no prior knowledge of the game?

Hi! Thanks for the praise! We had a lot of technical SNAFUs on Matt Chat so I hope to release a new live play video ASAP with some cleaner footage :-)

I would say I hope for around 15-20 hours of gameplay but this is very hard to predict. Could easily be more if we make it more grindy but I don't think that's a point :-) If we add any kind of "padding" it will be besides the main story path and added as a optional feature. For instance we could easily add a procedurally generated dungeon for infinite exploration but I would never require the player to spend hours there just to pad runtime.

I intend for the game to be open in the sense that an optimal play-through could be doable in MUCH less time.
Very nice; it sounds like you have things together a bit more than Unknown Realms, a similar game I backed that now seems surrounded with uncertainty and suspicion. Your game looks awesome--can't wait until the demo (I'm backing it). Good luck!

Thanks so much! I'm trying to keep thing simple, transparent and low-risk: Both for me and the backers.

Unknown Realms broke my heart :-/ I REALLY wanted to see it get made but I'm not holding my breath anymore. All I can say is that this can't be easy for the people at Stirring Dragon and facing that kind of situation is not something I would want for anyone.

Question once again: Will you be allowing others to buy the digital extras not included in their tiers if they want such? Like I would want the manual in addition to the first tier goodies and would be willing to pay extra(but not tier 2 price) to get it.
