Question in the title. Because I've been quite peeved because a game I liked got discounted on Steam for 85%, so I bought it on Steam first. And then 3 months later it got out on GOG for the same price. If I've known they would be out on GOG, I would've ditched Steam version. If only I could see the future.
Depends on how much you want it on GOG, how much you support the developers, how rich you are, and how much you dislike Steam.
If you're ever unsure, buy it as a gift purchase first. That way, if you decide you don't want it, you can gift or trade it away.
I know the feeling. If i were u i wld buy it on GOG only if it was heavily discounted & that the same game offers some extras that were not available in the Steam version. Otherwise, i dun see any pt buying the same game.

I wld also make an exception to purchase it again on GOG if the same game on Steam is a non DRM-free version, in which case i feel it's justified buying another copy to keep offline (in the possibility u can't access ur game thru Steam for some reason).
The question is: do you want a DRM-free version of your game that isn't tied to any client?
Do you want to make up your own mind? Don't ask this kind of thing here. You'll get nothing but biased opinions.

Shoo, you said you were done here. And of course you'll get biased opinions - you'd get biased opinions on Steam too.

If you intend to continue to use steam, it comes down to if the game inherently requires steamworks or other DRM to work. If it doesn't, then re-buying from GoG may not make a difference (unless you choose to drop steam in it's entirety like i did).

If the game DOES have DRM on steam, then get the GoG version... Simple.

No I didn't, I said I'd be back at some point. Besides I only pop in when someone sends me a message.

As far as biased opinions go, does it not making asking a bit pointless. Steam fans will say Steam, GOG fans will say GOG. Why bother?!
Sucks, GoG forum eat my spacing

If I have it on Steam, I'll re-buy it here when I have a little extra cash. Don't have friends on either service so it makes little difference to me.
I occasionally re-purchase games on GOG, but it depends on a lot of factors. Sometimes the GOG version is more compatible than its Steam counterpart. Sometimes there are features or media missing in the Steam version that is included with the GOG version. Often it is just that I like the game so much that I desire to have a Steam-free / drm-free version in case something ever happens to Steam as a service.

Why not.
If you don't mind the price then go ahead and buy it here.
I brought Legend of Grimrock on gog inspite of having it on humblebundle.
Because I had enough coins at that time and game was on sale here.

I even brought 4 copies of game for gifting purposes when discount got higher.

Sometimes I repurchase games here that I liked on Steam (Crimzon Clover, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, etc.) to get a DRM-Free version, but that's just me.
