GOG hasn't been Good Old Games since 2012. They officially abandoned that. Also they never were about game preservation. They just want to make money. ... And now they think that they'll make more money if they abandon DRM-free and sell games for Epic and other DRM-ed stores. We'll see if that is true. But it won't be my money!

Nope, not at all.

These companies are spending so much $ on AAA games and marketing, they need to make money somewhere. They gotta do what they got to, just to stay alive - b/c they don't know how to properly spend $ on development & marketing.

They blow so much on development and then also tons on marketing - yeah, it still blows my mind, how they sometimes stay afloat. Seems like only the big companies stick around and they buy the others out.

PC games can get really cheap here really quick. Games get devalued really fast here, especially w/ the existence of Bundle sites like Fanatical or Humble.

So for me - I'm just glad remasters exist. I don't have to buy them, but maybe someone from this generation who hasn't bought it sees shiny new version and will give a Classic getting a Remaster a chance.

I still have my old versions normally - so, if I don't like what new version is doing or don't care for it - eh, I'll go back to the old one.

Thing is: I don't like when they stop selling old said version period; that's annoying. If they are going to de-list old-version, it should be bundled w/ new version.

Why would they introduce the remaster but take away the original?

Two reasons: the remaster costs more, and to avoid confusion.

Because if a remastered game sucks, the people involved don't want anyone to have the chance to try the original and see if it's better. Also, they've likely made all of the money they're going to make from the original.

Oh, well I mean their are other methods of obtaining the game if you know what I mean. ;)

To grab money, I see. Mostly every company is corrupt to be rich with money and power. Oh well, may as well appreciate the great memories you can create that money can not buy or grab. Gotta make the most of life in this tough world.

You do you(players should be able to buy what they want), but you do know that gamers like you who buy such things and other stuff like mTx and lootboxes are partly why the industry keeps practices like these and DRM going, right?

I checked the vid you linked....the graphics are a bit better, but c'mon: 14 more bucks for slightly better graphics and fixed mouse/etc controls?

I like some of em, and some of the companies making em do a decent enough job and treat the players fair/right(as said above).

But yeah, let's not kid ourselves.....a good chunk of them are cash grabs relying on nostalgia/etc to make some quick/easy bucks.

GOG should be renamed GOC(good old cashgrabs)......them and companies that pull stunts like this.

(note: I like some remakes/remasters and am ok with some that do such, like the Shadow Warrior 2013 makers who put the old version up FOR FREE on GOG, or those that make the new version decently priced and at least add the old version as a goodie)

Even if this was the case, they should've/could've added the old one as a bonus goodie with the new one....they didn't even give people that much.

They did more in this remaster than just that. Check the store page next time before posting. It is all listed there.

Anyhoo, I feel it's far better to criticize when/where it's needed, rather than to just (near)instantly buy whatever these companies put out while acting like they're some sort of saviors of gaming.....but that's just me.

If people want to buy the remakes/remasters/etc, that's fine, but me? If my version works fine, i'll stick with it(and the boatloads of free mods old games often have) and save me some money.

Skimmed it, same reply....imo it's not worth it.

Why? Because for starters, I can get a game similar to ND's version using the old game and some free mods.

But eh, if people wanna throw money at ND for some retexturing/mouse fixes and some new content made from old assets, that's fine by me....just as long as it's not my money.

No you can't. Most of the stuff listed on the store page can't be added to the old version with mods because the engine is simply not capable to make certain new features work.
In your logic that game shouldn't cost more than the System Shock: Enhanced Edition (10 $) by default because they didn't do much besides adding a couple better textures yada yada yada. Proofs the point that many people are just cheap f***s these days who want anything (almost) for free and are not able anymore to value the work that went into making a remaster / remake / new game. I'm so sick of such people.

The textures/etc can be done with free mods(check out ModDb for proof), the "new areas/levels content" made from recycled resources isn't that appealing to me and likely could be surpassed by competent modders anyways, and i'm not worried about achievements/cloud stuff/etc.

Jokes aside: I already said they redid a bunch of stuff for SS remake, and that that (imo) is worth a bit more money. This new shadow man version, however, is (imo) not worth what they're charging(i'd say it's worth maybe double the price of the old one or so).

More like some of us value what we have, and try not to spend money foolishly doing things like rebuying slightly flashier versions of old things when the old ones work just as good.

But hey, if you or anyone else wants to buy and then rebuy the same game over and over with a new coat of paint like some buy a new phone every year, then by all means.
