The more the choices to buy a game from, the better for everyone.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Is that meaning to imply that SEGA is going to release its good stuff (i.e. the Persona games) on GOG sometime, eventually?

If that is so, then there is no reason why they should refrain from announcing that those games are coming to GOG, even if they won't be coming any time soon.

However, SEGA saying nothing of the sort seems to support the idea that the good stuff probably isn't ever coming to GOG.
I honestly have no idea. But the only certain thing, is that it is going to take time. No less time than Alien Isolation release, all the way to it coming here (few years at best).

When did Alien Isolation come out on GOG? Thought I bought it but can't find it.
All i'm praying for is the release of Yakuza 0, 1 and 2 at this year's Winter Sale.

I'd buy those and the Shenmue 1 and 2 pack esp. with Japanese versions.

Published by Sega like "Condemned".
Their release of Two Point Hospital hasn't been very good so far. It has a bunch of content hidden behind online multiplayer requirements (for a single player game), as well as content just not available in the GOG release too [because of online activation requirements the way they built it].

Ancient-Red-Dragon: I recall reading on this forum before that a high level GOG employee told GOG's shareholders that GOG's contract with SEGA is extensive and thus implying that GOG will be getting most or all of SEGA's good stuff.

However, the reality that we are actually experiencing seems not to be living up to that premise.

For example, Personal 4 Golden has been on S**** for years, and Persona 5 Royal was just released on S**** recently.

Both are published by SEGA, but yet there is zero sign that either game will be coming to GOG.

So, my question is: what's up with that contradiction between GOG & SEGA supposedly being great pals now, and SEGA supposedly being willing to give GOG its good stuff...yet it seems contrary to that premise, SEGA is actually still holding back its good stuff from receiving any GOG release?
Might be over optimism from that employee i mean would you tell them we only getting scraps/gameswith not much $$ life left is coming from Sega?. Cant imagine the contract stating only the new and good ones coming over.

Ive always had the impression the older good titles come over when the publisher has squeezed the game sales on other platforms THEN come to GOG to grab the last pennies. Explains why Skyrim didnt come to GOG til recently. And a few other older titles (some really popular back in the day,.....but why no Starcraft when we got Diablo and Warcraft for example?)

I also believe that to be so.

However, I had thought that with the GOG/SEGA giant announcement, that GOG would be turning a new leaf in regards to that, and therefore that GOG would not only be getting SEGA games many years after they have already become ancient & obsolete and with dried-up sales on the other stores.

Instead, I thought this meant we would be getting fresh new releases from SEGA whilst they are still timely in relation to their original release date on a PC platform.

But sadly, it appears my impression was mistaken about that, and instead it seems that the old & bad status quo of GOG only getting stale old crumbs still remains in full effect, even in regards to SEGA. :(

I mean... we don't really know what the support's going to look like from Sega JP yet. We've got some Sega Europe stuff, but we're kind of limited there because of the online functionality that most of their newer content has. The EU and JP teams operate almost totally independently, though, so there's nothing to say that the level of support will be the same once Sega Japan starts releasing stuff.

Magnitus: - Some of their desirable games aren't even officially translated in other languages (ex: Final Fantasy V)

paladin181: Final Fantasy V has an official translation now in the Pixel Remaster.

pippin15: There was the older remaster too. It looked rpgmaker-ish for some but I don't really like the look and feel of the Pixel Remasters.
Guys, FInal Fantasy V has been translated since 1999. If you have a PS3 you can even still buy that version online. Granted, the original translation was terrible, but the current translation is still from 2006 on GBA (good version btw), seven years before the versions you're talking about. They weren't on PC but neither was any other language!

Yeah, I got that fact wrong. Blame it on my not having had a console since the SNES/Genesis so my facts were dated there.

However, while that particular example was bad, they've had quite a few other games that they didn't translate.

I assume you meant most of the Japanese Mini 2 if you mean the Mini 2 buy why would you want them anyway? Far as I'm concerned when you buy the Mini or Mini 2 you assume legal rights to use those ROMS in a Flashcart or MiSTeR. JMO.

I find it still nonsense that the Japanese Mini 2 was is "Pulse Man". "Shadowrun" for the Mega CD along those lines would be great given it's rare but then again maybe it's a Microsoft thing. Far as the US I don't know why the US and European versions are missing "Keio" unless the company that owns them now wants someone to just buy that entire Victor catalog.
I don't know what's up but man, SEGA's missing out on so much cash by holding back from dropping their games on GOG. I'd re-buy all of my SEGA games and more (over time, of course) if they brought them here. I'd love to have the Yakuza, Sonic and Total War games DRM-free!
