FYI for anyone that runs into something similar.

I was trying to play Return to Krondor but it would not start up properly. When I looked at the active processes, I saw that GalaxyClient.exe started Launcher.exe and that started RtK.exe. Yet the game was not running. So I did some tinkering by turning off some active software, and when I turned off Logitech Gaming Software 9.02 from the system tray, RtK started up properly.
Logitech Gaming Software turned into a huge piece of poop for me when I updated to Windows 10. No matter what I do it'll always come up with new problems.

- First it started "disabling" my mouse and keyboard. After booting Windows everything worked fine - until the software loaded... All I could do then was moving the curser. Mouse buttons and keyboard were dead. So you only had a few seconds to do something. In the end, I had to plug in an old mouse, go to task manager and kill the process to get my keyboard back working. Reinstalling the software solved this problem. A few months later I had the same problem again.

- At some point the software randomly started forgetting profiles. Sometimes it even forgets my standard profile and resets all of my configurations (G-keys, dpi, etc.).

- Recently it added some Logitech device which I don't own and never had plugged into my PC. Maybe it'll forget it the next time it has one of its random Alzheimer events.

- Updating the software became a pain in the ass, too. Hitting the "search for updates" button does exactly NOTHING. I always have to download the newest installer from Logitech's site and install it over my current version.

I'm pretty certain it's some weird problem on my system, but... Dammit, I'm on the verge to switch to some other brand. I like my Logitech hardware, but the software is driving me mad sometimes. The thing with such random problems is that you can't exactly monitor what's causing them. They're not reproduceable (except the one that I can't search for updates).

ps. Sorry to use this thread to vent... Got triggered by the thread title ;P

So don’t use galaxy, everything is better!

It runs okay on win 10? Reason I asked is it was nearly unplayablle on win 7 with graphics and sound problems.

Let me check tomorrow. Not going to turn machine on now. It worked ok for me back on win 7, although it’s a pretty old game. Have you tried on win 10, generally speaking I have found it not too bad for compatibility.

I played it on 7 (in 2014), no issues that I recall.

As for the Logitech software, seem to recall some other games not starting with it running. King of Dragon pass clearly comes to mind. Interestingly, those games will also not run if Chrome is running, it's even listed in their support pages.

Yeah, it was more than likely something wrong out of zinc on my pc. Had a great time with XP, well besides changing discs.

Yes it is running on Win 10 for me. Only time I ran into graphics issues was when I was tinkering with the graphics options within the game settings. When I restarted the game, the issues cleared up.
Also it appears that Logitech may be phasing out their "Logitech Gaming" brand of software and hardware to be replaced with the "Logitech G HUB" brand. I also picked up the G604 wireless mouse and it required the new Logitech G HUB software.
